For those with the soft cover tri fold how is the noise when driving, does it flap in the wind bad? I was leaning toward that cause I don't need the security of a hard cover but if road noise is bad I'll pay the extra for the hard.
I've driven 250-350 mile trips 6 times. Never heard any flapping noise from my soft cover (Ford factory cover delivered with First Edition). I can see it "moving" up and down a bit at highway speeds, but nothing that is obvious or disturbing. I went from "I'll probably replace this cover first chance I get" to "Why replace it since it works well?" One 250 mile trip in the rain allowed maybe 1/2 cup of water into the front corners of the bed... If it were worse, I would add a strip of weatherproofing to the bottom of the cover along that seam.

One nice thing... I forgot to take the cover off when I moved some stuff for my daughter that took up the whole bed. It was easy to remove the cover (no assistance - just me) and stow it in the back seat on the diagonal. It barely fit, but it did fit.

Same one I have but don’t know the brand. I keep asking them to adjust because pine needles/leaves get stuck behind the cab and the only way to get rid of them is take the cover off. Mine leaks by the cab and on the sides ☹

I can unlatch the cover but latching it again requires all the strength I can muster after climbing under the cover on my back and pulling down with all my weight. I definitely would not recommend this one for any of the smaller ladies out there. I’ll be batting something different for my 23.

Those latches are easily adjusted for tension... With it "unlatched" simply unscrew them however much it takes to get it "just right" for you. Loosening would be turning counter-clockwise when looking from below - also known as the "lefty-loosey, righty-righty" rule. You just want it snug enough that it doesn't lift up or move around when latched. Anything more than that is overkill. (Mine was WAY too tight from the factory.)

Picked up my Maverick a month ago and have been trying to decide on a cover ever since. I’m very much leaning towards a hard tri fold. I’ve found things I like/dislike in almost every one I see.

I’ve been leaning towards the Lomax Stance since I like the seamless look. The seals on others don’t look as good and seem like they’ll eventually lead to problems. I also don’t like the idea of Velcro on some of the other brands.

What I don’t like about the Lomax that other brands have better is the way they secure when fully open. Why couldn’t they use a bar system instead of brackets being mounted on top of the cab?

Is there a brand that will give me the flush look without Velcro and a bar style fully open mount that I am overlooking?

BAKflip MX4 but it leaks. After replacing the front weather strip and using nearly a whole tube of silicon sealant I have it fairly dry, with just a little bit of water coming in around the upper edges of the tailgate.

I have had the Tyger brand for a couple months now no complaints. I got 15% off the 239.00 price plus a free bottle of spray protectant just by asking for it and mentioning this site.

I really appreciate this thread because I was also going crazy looking at tonneau cover options. There are some good suggestions in this thread so I now have a good selection to narrow down.
I thought I would post an update in case it might help anyone not sure which tri fold cover to choose.

I narrowed it down to the Gator SFX for $300 and the Extang Trifecta 2.0 for $480. I found a previous post from Alex at Real Truck that explained that the SFX is manufactured by Extang as a budget cover. I put the link to the post and the quote below. I contacted Alex and he discounted the Extang to $380 so I ended up going with that one because for me it seemed to be a little better than the SFX. So far I really like the Extang and I'm very happy with the purchase. But honestly, I sure you can't go wrong with either of those.

"Extang makes the SFX for us. The SFX is a more budget friendly option and is still an amazing cover. Now the Extang Trifecta 2.0 would be considered the "best" option as it has a higher quality replaceable tarp, improved latching, and added supports."

I give up. Would someone please steer me towards a nice affordable cover. The choice between rolling folding retractable is too much. All I want is a cheap good cover that only leaks a little. Because I hear they all leak. lol Thank you. I need two and I've read here they might get discounts for MTC people?
I also ordered the MAXMATE based on other MTC's comments, and it should arrive Monday from Amazon.

Used my FordPass points and combined it with the 20% off deal to score a Truxedo Truxport soft roll tonneau cover for $48.31.

Installed it today in about an hour - taking way too long to try and make it absolutely perfect.

Pretty happy with it, especially for $50. It pulled really tight and I will leave it for a week or so to see if the pleather material stretches at all as I am sure it will, if not I will probably loosen the tensioners at the tailgate slightly.

A quick drive in the rain getting up to 75mph and I was not able to see any buffeting or hear any buffeting. Maybe a little movement/wiggle in the fabric. No water intrusion but I was only out for about 5 minutes.

Although I'd love a locking, hard roller tonneau cover the price is the fist reason I won't spring for it, weight is the second, and loss of bed space is the third.

I prefer the soft roll tonneaus because it takes up virtually no bed space when rolled up and weight is somewhere in the 25-30lb range - which is offset by removing the full spare for in town driving.

The downsides are that it is maybe a little less waterproof than a trifold or hard roller - the Truxport seems about a half inch too short for the Maverick - I don't have it sitting completely against the rear window and it just barely touches the top of the tailgate but it does create a seal. I didn't feel real comfortable moving it back farther from the rear window than it already was, and I am sure it will likely leak near the tailgate if left out in a steady rain while not moving.

The other downside is the fact it will likely wear out over the years and begin looking worse and worse - sagging, discoloration, etc. Good news is that it will be garage parked (home and office) unless out on the town or down at our property in Western, NC.

I don't find the operation of the soft roll cumbersome at all, velcroing it tight takes about 30 seconds.

I have 3 trucks that all have ACCESS ORIGINAL covers. Put one my 23 Mav. Fits perfectly.
MTC does give a good discount. I believe mine was around $375. Shipped free.
Its the rollup kind... Good luck!

You can try the soft roll or folding cover from Mostplus, which is less than $200. I have been using it for a year and it has not leaked.
