Hey all,

Bought this 2024 last November. It’s had one service since that time. I was taking a look at the filter now that I’m at 15k miles. I was going to remove the glovebox and noticed that mine looked different than the removal videos I had watched online. Isn’t there supposed to be a hinge here connected to the glovebox? I don’t see it anywhere loose in the vehicle either.

Anyone else’s like this?

That’s good to know! Thanks for sending that my way. Kind of odd they removed it! It also made me a little curious since my glovebox rattled a bit even in regular roads, so I stuck two thin foam pieces on the lip inside and that fixed it.

I don’t know if that could correlate to them leaving out the dampener, but either way such an odd choice.

Kind of like a tailgate damper not necessary but sure makes it nicer.

My MY24 Lariat (Built in February 24) did not have it either. But a quick trip to the Local Salvage yard yanked from a Escape cost me 2.00. I also picked up 3 auto dimming mirrors and wiring harnesses (12.00 each) so it was 38.00 total. Gave a mirror to a friend installed one and kept one as a spare.

Yes bought my 24 Lariat August 2024. When I went to change the cabin filter at 20,000 miles I noticed it was not there either. I said oh well one less thing i have to remove and didn't give it a second thought.

Hey, I may be late getting in this rodeo, but after I saw this post I checked out my 25 Mav XLT. Mine did not come with the glovebox dampener or stopper. So, I google it and found the part number. Called my dealer 4 times... and apparently they don't want to deal with the issue. After looking around Amazon found a similar part and ordered it. Description on Amazon does not say it works for a Maverick, but thought I'd give it a shot. What I found actually works. It feels pretty cheaply made, but it works. I paid $16 for it.

If you really want one just go to your local pick and pull (Vehicle Recycling yard) grab one out of a 2017 -2024 escape. Again I paid 2.00 for the tiny part, and yes it does slam down without it when I am reaching into it from the drivers seat. It was annoying as hell.

Thanks for the info but how did the door function before? Was it struggle to open and close? Did it slam down and damage anything? Yes I am being sarcastic. If you hadn;t seen this thread you like MYSELF would have never checked to see if it was there. I saved $16 on the 2 times a year I might open the glove box. I will just lower it open by hand.
Hello, thank you for your thoughtful comment. Since you took time to respond I'll try to give you an adequate response. "Was it [glove box door]a struggle to open and close?" No. However, my other three vehicles have the dampener on the glove box door. The first few times I opened the Maverick's glove box door I thought it was odd that it didn't have the dampener. However, I wasn't curious enough about the issue to pursue a "fix". What's good about this group is we get regular emails about topics discussed on previous days. I've actually learned many things about my Maverick that I probably wouldn't have known without these emails. For example, the annoying stopping and starting of the engine at red lights. Talk about annoying! Yet, thanks to this group I learned about Forscan. What a game changer! I've used it to shut off everything that I disliked about the electronics of the Maverick. Through the emails I discovered the massive opening under the bed of the truck and the "fix" for that. The upgrades/updates to the Maverick are unending and I appreciate getting a heads up on those features. Yes, I've bought many of the options available. For example, mudflaps, tailgate hole cover, bumper hole cover (to the left of license plate), extra console storage compartments, door handle storage compartments, armrest storage trays, tri-fold bed cover, flashing 3rd brake light, stubby antenna (hated the stock antenna), rain guards for windows (vent shades), hood protector, rear wheel well hole cover, etc, etc... The added benefit, is getting discounts on some of these products through this group. Not sure if I found info in the group about the power ports for the truck bed... but they are a very useful add-on (think I got that info off youtube). Anyway, I digress. So, as you can see my first 2 1/2 months of Maverick ownership has been very productive and I've been able to add things to the truck that quite honestly should have been Ford factory installed. Again, I digress. I hope you see that money has not been an issue for me and $16 is a small price to pay for my wife's happiness (she's in that glove box every time we get in the truck... lol... she's a hoot!!). By the way window tinting with the eyebrow is a great upgrade on those sunny and hot Summer days. To break up the black color I added a gold pin strip which was prompted by a black and gold "Retired Army" license plate I put on the front of my Maverick. To answer your question... My wife appreciates the door dampener for our glove box. You know what they say... Happy Spouse Happy House. ;)

I didn't get the hood struts. Some have had trouble with them hitting the top of the wiper flood jug. I like the tailgate struts: useful for me. My vehicles are always projects when I first purchase them and I don't mind spending the money. One of my latest additions are the dams below and to the left and right of the windshield.

I did buy those because of the oak, gum ball, trees in the neighbors yard next to our drive way. Those work great. Leaves and acorns get scooped out daily. Did you look at Maxzina's shock covers for the rear wheel wells? That and the tailgate hole plug were the first things I ordered after seeing posts about them.

Yes, I bought the shock covers, as well. I had an issue with the first set and the company was very easy to work with in resolving the problem.

I forget some of what I've done to my Mav, so, I've had to create a spreadsheet to keep track of it all. LOL What can I say... gotta make it mine. My accounting department [wife] hasn't put a cap on my spending, yet, so I keep considering new options. lol
I keep seeing some of the younger owners putting after market exhausts on their Mavs, so, I'm toying with the idea. Probably won't do it, but if I could get a nice rumble out of her, maybe. Don't want it to sound like a Piper Cub flying down the road.
