Imagine,
My super cool Hot Pepper Red 2024 AWD Lariat. Equipped with :
Heated Seats, Steering wheel and mirrors,
Cruse control, adaptive yep throw that in,
The Auto Air, yep I like that to, It's controlled with buttons as is the
power seats and power windows, power brakes,
B&O sound system,
Traction control,
Remote start from my key fob,
I'd keep all the menu's in the dash behind the steering wheel and control it with the BUTTONS
and the HAT switches on the steering wheel.

WITHOUT :
start/stop
Eco/sport/slippery/tow/ and what ever the other one is, eliminate all these buttons or on screen.
I don't need all that, I can control my right foot just fine.
Having to click an OK button after I put on my seat belt, I HATE THAT ONE !
I'd loose every bit of that driver assistance stuff, not a problem but I can still pay attention
and drive by myself,,, wait a sec,,
Light Bulb !
If I loose all the screen distractions of course I can drive without assistance !

The truck is great but we should have the option to disable stuff that we don't want and not have to re do it after each start up.

I'll settle into my current preflight and be fine. I think this little truck is a keeper.

I am so averse to the 2025 Maverick's HVAC/Radio controls, that I am seriously looking at the Chevy Colorado, and Toyota Tacoma: both of which have a touchscreen, and proper knobs/switches.

This is silly: the EU is laboring to move manufacturers away from touchscreens, because they believe that screen operation distracts drivers - much in the same way that phones do. Apparently many manufacturers agree, so they're getting back to incorporating knobs/switches with their screens.

And what does Ford do? The opposite.

I completely agree with you. I want buttons. However, I just took delivery of my 2025 Maverick XL. Yes the push buttons for the HVAC on the screen are annoying but, I have noticed this truck is very good at keeping the temp so you pretty much set it and forget it. The rest of the truck is great. I had a 22 and this one is a lot better quality. The steering is tighter, the cabin is insulated better and it greatly improved the sounds and temp inside the cabin. The paint is much better. So don’t let the controls on the screen make you buy something else. For all its shortcomings, this truck is great and I forgot how much I enjoyed driving it.

If I remember correctly , some Ford products I drove back in the seventies had different shaped knobs on the dashboard so you could tell them apart by feel while driving ....and of course the keys for the locks , and ignition were different shapes too .
