I got a ‘24 fx4 lariat with 4K tow package. For $500 under msrp after waiting 0 days for it. I searched Ford.com by model and options and it showed me a perfect match 45 miles away. After a few text messages back and forth, I was confident in the price I was getting and that there would be no hidden dealer add ons. So I drove there after work, test drive it, bought it and took it home that night.

But after reading this thread, I’m pissed that I didn’t get any gifts from my dealer. Not everyone can afford to just go out and buy a new yeti coffee mug!
Yeah it's a very different time for vehicles now than 22 and most of 23. The average wait times for hybrids were 6-9 months, and 3-6 months for EB. During 22-23 you were lucky to get it at MSRP, without $5k-15k markups.

And that is why I didn’t buy a Maverick in ‘22 or ‘23. I had written the cheap Maverick off as being a rip-off because of the long wait times and all of the dealer add-ons like $4,000 paint sealer and $1,000 lo-jack theft detection, that you can’t opt out of.

I decicded to simply wait to buy a small pickup or suv since I already had a commuter car. Then in 2024, when I needed to do an 1800 mile trip to pick up a 1960’s Harley, I started looking at trucks again and the Maverick situation had mostly corrected itself, so I bought one and it started its life by pulling a trailer for 2k miles. 🤣

It wasn't a great time to buy a vehicle for sure, I was just glad I didn't pay over MSRP. My hand was kind of forced by a need for a good working small truck and an accident that totaled my car.

I bought my 22 Maverick in 12/21. I did a pre-order in June 2021. Ford started production late August. I paid 3% below dealer's invoice (save almost $2000) at Granger Ford. They charged only $180 for doc fees. I had a few recalls...most were software updates for fixes. I did have the airbags replaced (the only hardware recall) and Ford sent me the Yeti coffee mug. Overall, I have had a good experience driving my Mav for 3 years!

Yes, 22 was a bad time to buy a Maverick. Waited six months for a Lariat at MSRP, $28,700 and paid a $250 doc fee and got three-year 0% interest loan. My Mav is paid off in seven months and Carvana offered me 26K last week. So, it's better now???????????;):teehee:

All I got was an attitude and a stink-eye, because I didnt use the dealerships financing.

My dealer told me to go with the best offer, which was from Wells Fargo, my primary bank, because the rate was 3% lower than what FoMoCo was offering. No pressure. No shady tactics. Not all stealerships are created equal.
