the gear shift was replaced 8 months ago, it went bad again 1 week ago, and it. The parts is on back order for a 1 month. It a 2024 ford maverick xl , 2.0 ecoboot, it on have 37,125 on it. They give me a loaner to drive. A 2026 ford explorer. And it really nice. To they my truck fix again for the same part. I think ford need to do a recall for the gear shift.

Also have a 2024 2.0 Ecoboost with mileage just below what you have and have no issues with the shift knob. In fact, the only issue I have had is the trailer lights recall. Just wish Ford would allow you to control the air-conditioning. Frustrating as hell when it comes on to reduce the humidity in the truck when I have the sun roof open. Just ran to the store and it kept circulating on and off on the drive home. When on, have to up the heat, then it goes off and I have to change it again... No, not in Auto... Grrrrr

Doing a recall for a problem that doesn't seem widespread at all (from this forum, anyway) isn't very likely.

Not sure why you'd have the hvac on while the sun roof is open?

I do not have the air turned on (Truck uses the air conditioning to dehumidify the truck, even if the driver has not turned it on). However, I do want air (outside) to flow out of the dash vents. The only way I have found to stop the truck from turning on the air to dehumidify the truck is to shut the HVAC off completely, but that shuts down the outside air coming thru the dash vents.

Agree with Larry. Have to switch off A/C & recirculate each time I start my Mav. Anyone tried cutting the wire to compressor, putting in a switch? Would that cause something else to go awry?

25MY-up will turn the HVAC & AC on itself as you observed - no control on that.

So you cut the wire and have manually switched off, and it attempts to do that - you'll get an error.

Pre-25MY it runs the AC in the background without the AC button being pushed. But you have to turn HVAC on.

Probably trying to control for the goofballs that you see in the winter that have scrapped off the INSIDE windshield ice in a couple little spots with a CC to see - causing a hazard to so many.
If they hadn't left their Recirc on, and used their Defrost - probably not an issue.

Sad that an extreme idiotic action causes such an extreme design control.
Not even that bad outside of winter - though I have seen goof balls with partially fogged up windows.
Shoot - my back window has started loosing it even with the background AC going - I just don't have the fan speed high enough to help.
