Bought first year Focus ST, picked up Oct 2012, within 15k transmission gone. Ford air shipped a replacement and was installed 48hrs after diagnosis. Put 155,000 miles on that tranny and motor , zero issues.
Just bad luck of the draw hopefully.
I thought I'd bought a crappy product, but just some random assembly mishap

Interesting. A lot of folks on this forum were gushing about how reliable the Atkinson engines were going to be compared to EB.

I haven't ready any posts about EB's requiring replacement, but maybe missed something.

This is the kind of story that almost prevented me from ordering a Maverick. I always heard you shouldn’t buy the first year of a new vehicle, but I couldn’t resist. I’ve been wanting a smaller truck since I got rid of my 2006 Ranger.

Any other symptoms other than the CEL?

No other issues apart from this. As soon as the check engine turned on, acceleration kinda slowed down. But after resetting the Check engine, car was performing as usual.

We are on the same boat. I hit barely 300 miles, not even a week when my hybrid lariat left me stranded at work. It would not turn on...but of course after over an hour waiting for the tow truck it started. Dropped at the dealership and still waiting . Looks like it is something about the voltage from the battery. I read somewhere they have the same issue, hopefully it's fixed soon. But what could we expect with brand new cars that haven't been tested in the real world. Good luck to you!!

Dunno why they would replace the engine, the code is coming from the trans. I would try to get more info or print out from the dealer as to why this is an post it up here.

Not good. Seems like a bunch of issues with the hybrid... I don't think I have come across an issue with the EB version...
