Damaged electrical hybrid system connector after pass over a piece of brick.

Guys, I sadly report I was driving home last Wednesday 03/22 when suddenly a half piece of a brick appears on the road, I couldn't avoid take it with the front right tire, I heard a hitting noise under the passenger seat zone, I didn't give it relevance but 3 seconds later I got the warning "Stop safely now", and "Check hybrid system" or similar. I stopped in the next gas station and the Maverick dead. Cause: The stu**d brick damaged the electrical conector. There is a cover but is too thick, didn't help the brick make a hoke on it. I asked for towing to take the truck to the dealer and they confirmed my theory, the spares are ordered, I hope don't take so long. Advices fellows?

I believe this generally falls under "Comprehensive" on your insurance...just like hitting a deer. May or may not be worth your deductible.

It's not a skid plate and has never been presented as such. It is not the problem here.

It protects against fluids being splashed up off the road and provides better aerodynamics, that's all it's responsible for.

Potentially fragile exposed wiring is the real problem, and anything can be damaged with a hard enough impact.

Since moving everything like electrical connectors and fuel lines is not feasible, it should all be protected better.

If you are an aftermarket manufacturer, you should put away all your stupid grille LED and glove box organizer projects, and get laser focused on making and marketing something better than the cardboard and paper mache' that Ford has given us for underbody protection.

I would take a sheet of Kydex or ABS - anything is better than the fast food napkins we have protecting our giblets currently.

So far the estimated for parts + labor exceeds by $150 my deductible, I'm starting to file mi claim in case this goes higher.

If I keep this POS, and that is a big IF right now, I will. But more likely I will flip this for $12k more than I paid to some unicorn fart sniffer (we have plenty of them in CA), and go buy a Tacoma with a cast iron block and real frame rails where they nestle things like fuels lines

Don't know about u folks but my rates go up every renewal not matter if I do a claim or not. Car Insurance is such a scam it has been since it was offered years ago.. Let's face it anybody get a renewal notice for lower than what they paid in the previous renewal? If so let me know I will switch from Allstate in a second! That's what u pay car insurance for to cover things that might happen!

I can't understand why Ford chose felt liners in the front & plastic in the rear, at least the plastic would have a better chance of deflecting stuff like this.
