Alright boys and girls. We have working drive modes now.

It looks like there is a translation difference between the IPC from an escape and the ABS from a maverick.

Posting the fix now and will elaborate in another post, my findings once I am back at my computer.

You need to have Normal drive mode and Mud drive mode disabled. It translates differently on the IPC. This has now let me change drive modes as normal while the truck is on and running.

no tow/haul mode as that interprets it’s as normal mode.

it does kick me out of deep snow/sand mode and gives Me drive mode not available on the cluster.

what’s works and how it’s correctly portrayed on the cluster:

normal
Eco
Sport
Slippery

what does not work:

Deep Snow/sand (once you drive a couple feet it gives the drive mode not available)

What doesn’t exist on the cluster:
Tow/haul
Mud

I will play around with it more on Sunday and write something up. I need to load my factory As Built and get rid of all changes I made to start a good baseline of all forscan mods that have worked.

But we have working drive modes!

Next is to get my Traction control button to work and the Intelligent AWD drive screen. Hopefully by looking at livnitup’s F150 spreadsheet I can maybe see what drive modes I should enable in As Built mode.

quick update here:

So all available drive modes that exist on the digital cluster now work with no issues. I still can't get the traction control button to work since that is part of a different switch pack on the escape, so no fix there. The Intelligent AWD screen also doesn't exist on this cluster so until they add it in the Escape we won't have it on this cluster. Maybe an a software update down the road since in the Escape forums they are missing this and it shows up in the User manual for the Escape.

In forscan using the plain text configuration option for the IPC, you will have to enable/disable a couple things. Unfortunately, the escape does not support Mud mode and Tow/haul drive modes so we will be losing those 2 with this cluster. The Escape people have been using sport mode for hauling then switching to a normal mode for long straight drives. I have a feeling that we might be able to load the firmware from the explorer and/or other vehicles that use this visteon digital dash, but I haven't gone down that path yet since I don't want to brick my fully working cluster. Working on getting another cluster to play with firmwares.

See below for the good stuff. Each mode displayed works exactly as before the cluster swap.

Forscan Easymode(Plain text) Changes

-ABS Module Configuration-

Disabled:

SDM - ABS
SDM - Mode 5 (Mud)
SDM - Mode 6 (Normal)

Enabled:

SDM - EPAS
SDM - Mode 11 (Sport)
SDM - Mode 12 (Tow/Haul)
SDM - Mode 4 (Sand)
SDM - Mode 7 (Slippery)
SDM - Mode 9 (Eco)

What’s works and how it’s correctly portrayed on the cluster:

normal
Eco
Sport
Slippery
Deep snow/sand

What doesn’t exist on the cluster:
Tow/haul
Mud

As I mentioned a couple post above this one, the Escape digital IPC translates some of these modes differently, I haven't sat down to see which mode is what on this cluster, but I plan to soon since looking at the 2021-22 F150 spreadsheet, there are some other drive modes that can be enabled through the as-built programming as opposed to the Easy mode(plain text) mode. I want to try those to see what happens since those come with a digital IPC as well. I really do think it's the firmware though.

She's beautiful, even if its not the right part. Came from an Escape PHEV so not quite what I want but it was cheap and it looks awesome. NVM it was not a PHEV. Issues: Cross Traffic, Blind Spot, Reverse parking aid alerts that I can't get rid of. Biggest issue: cant change drive modes, can't change any IPM Forscan settings - get an error.

Otherwise I'll play with it until I can get my hands on a regular hybrid version that's a newer revision.
Reached out to Forscan support and they fixed me up. They added this IPC module into their database and I was able to clear out the annoying messages. Besides losing Tow/Haul mode which isn't super important to me, everything's perfect.

What version of Forscan are you using? I was using 2.3.47 from their download section and didn't have any problems connecting to the IPC, I had loaded my as-built into it and those errors went away. I wonder if they added anything new to the version you are using.

By chance, do you have photos of the part number for your cluster. Maybe also send a screenshot of your module information for the IPC so I can track the part #'s and software versions for each. I am working on buying a second cluster to prove my theory of them being all the same with just different software.

Do you have a Hybrid, my guess is they just don't have enough hybrid people messing with their cars as much as the ICE only ones. Sourcing this IPC took a while.

Here is the IPC module that I put in the truck.

Perfect, thanks! And no I have an Ecoboost.

I actually have a pretty easy method, but the biggest thing was figuring out the part numbers. I will have a post on how to source one once I complete the list and once I get a 2nd or 3rd one for myself before the price gets driven up.

So far what I have is the following:

LJ6T-10849-JEA(Mine)(2.0 Ecoboost AWD w/out Manual mode)(P,R,N,D,L)
LJ6T-10849-DEK(2.0 Ecoboost AWD w/manual mode)(P,R,N,D,M)
LJ6T-10849-DKK (Hybrid AWD)
LJ6T-10849-DEG(Currently unknown)(Ecoboost?)
LJ6T-10849-DTG(Currently unknown)(Ecoboost?)
LJ6T-10849-DLG(Currently unknown)(Hybrid?)
*LJ6Z-10849-DKG(Not confirmed)(Hybrid)(New revision?)

LJ6Z-10849-DKG is also for Hybrid but it's probably a newer revision and costs $1k

If anybody wants to get in on the fun, there is one that has 2,169 miles for $285. For Ecoboost.

After digging for a bit on these part numbers. It looks like for the MY2022 Escapes, the digital dash has been added to the SE models and SEL models to join the Titanium one that has had it since 2020. I think alot of these part numbers are from newers ones.

*I have been corrected below*

2020 Escape Hybrid included the 12.3" digital instrument cluster on all trims (SE, SEL, Titanium).

2021+ Escape Hybrid only get the mid-tier cluster with 6.5" display like Maverick FX4 or Lariat gets. To get the 12.3" digital cluster on a 2021+ Escape, one would have to opt for either SEL with Technology Package, or Titanium, which is the same path to the digital cluster as the ICE variants.

Thanks so much for that information! It helps a lot and I can clear up a lot of the info I got wrong regarding these clusters!

It will be annoying if I can't figure it out,
I don't know if you ever got the fuel sender issue resolved, but I reviewed the IPC options on my Lariat and noticed that it has the ability to recognize 2 fuel senders.

I know that these settings are directly to 'my' cluster, but a similar switch might be available on the Escape cluster.

I just asked Dave about it and he said he’s not supporting
Maybe I was talking to someone else

I know Boostedgreygoose has a Maverick on order, so maybe it was him
