So I've been here on the MTC, watching Tim, you tube, etc. and I understand that Ford will build our 2022 Trucks. If for some reason they can't they will be moved to 2023. The problem I have with this scenario is as follows.

If my dealer has 120 orders ahead of me (just using that as an example, I have no idea how many are actually ahead of me), and say they get 5 allocations a month. I won't get my vehicle for years. What am I not understanding? Maybe @fordvideoguy can explain for me.

This is my first ever ordered vehicle. I've always bought on the lot, and usually used cars.

Just put in another order with Chapman or Long McArthur etc. who has larger allocations. If your current order comes in before the new order then cancel the new order.

Allocations suck, but they are not static.

Your hypothetical dealer could receive 5 allocations in one month and 80 in the next. Or vice versa.
What determines allocations then? I thought it had to do with how many orders they get? I ask this because about a month or so ago, my salesman said he hasn't receive one Maverick yet.

It usually is based off the dealers sales the previous year but with the Maverick being a new model I’m not sure how they determine allocation #’s.

You just have to wait like the rest of us. If your 22 gets bumped to a 23, you will still get a Maverick. Just remember that when the order book reopens in mid-August your current order will be ahead of all those.

Partially true.

Also mixed into the arcane formula are:

1) What trim/what engine a particular dealer has on order.
2) Which options are or aren't included on each of the delaer's orders.
3) Whether any of those options are constrained, and by how much.
5) What region of North America (as defined by Ford) that dealer is located.
6) How many chickens have been sacrificed to appease the auto gods.

(Okay, maybe not #6.)

Eventually dealers with huge numbers of orders and corresponding allocations will reach or approach zero outstanding. That doesn't mean the production line will decelerate.

That's what keeps me waiting. But I just don't really understand this allocation thing. I'm assuming too the allocations could also include non Mavericks, so my wait theoretically could be even longer.

Dealer allocation is based upon how many trucks manufacturing plans to make in the month. The factory can make many more trucks than they currently are but are limited by chips. If the chip shortage is reduced then the factory will produce many more trucks and all the dealers will get a higher allocation.

I wouldn't bet on that as an absolute. Allocations and constraint items factor into that as well as some of Ford's mysterious ingredients.

To the above statements…when order books open for the MY23 that would mean all scheduling is completed for MY22? Otherwise how can we know if our order will need to be converted…

Theoretically sure you could wait for years. It hasn't been built yet and you have no sure way of ascertaining when that will happen. But what is much, much more likely to happen is that your vehicle will get built within a year (or much less), since you've already ordered and are waiting in line.
I ordered October 30 and mine is getting built this week. My dealer is just a normal type of midsized suburbia Ford dealer, I don't think they are a secret powerhouse dealer or something. That isn't a useful data point to you, I understand, but they are making them and delivering them.
