Very new to the Maverick game, but a ~15-20% drop is about what I'm seeing so far here in WI. Not unexpected; been used to the hit on our 2018 Camry Hybrid (part of that is the snow tires). Still doing better than I would be with the 2.5 Outback, so not complaining one bit.

I didn't think I would even use the heated steering wheel when I got this thing; LOL. Love it. Seems to help keeping the hvac off and use the seat/steering wheel heat until the motor warms up.
Yeah the heated seats and steering wheel are a must in winter conditions.
Mine are always on. They stay at low and make the hands and @$$ feel great!

5.2 L/100km average over 3.5 years in the GTA. It'll be good overall, drive and enjoy.

Cheers.

Hey MTC Gang,

Does anyone in the north have any rough stats on fuel mileage in cold temperatures? I'm talking -15c (-5f) and colder. Just trying to get an idea of what I'm up against. I was getting 900 km (559mi) to the tank which was amazing!

Any ballpark numbers would be really appreciate and where you're from would be great too!

Thanks!
Ottawa Canada here 😊

I live in southern Indiana, I've gone from 48.9 to 39.6 and it's not been that cold yet /24 hybrid

My Hybrid XLT (I live in nothern MN)

37mpg in the summer
30mpg in the winter. At least that’s what I got yesterday driving in a combination of city and hwy and temp was 14f’

I don’t even try to worry about milage in the winter. It goes out the window. Nothing you can do about it with an ICE engine regardless of manufacturer.

That said, my milage is still great when compared to what else is on the roads these days.
Good to know in winter Ecoboost gets about the same MPG as Hybrid. I was getting 30MPG yesterday in the cities.

Hawkesbury Ontario guy here. 2.0 EB. 800 km per tank summer time with stock tires, 700 km per tank on Bridgestone Blizzaks. Figure on a 15% loss when it's cold.

My Maverick Hybrid spring & fall MPG is around 43. The summer & winter MOG is around 40. The difference i account to running the AC or heater.

Ouch that's a significant difference!
I imagine mine's going to be worse since it's colder here 😞.

Thanks!
I’m shocked by your 900km range, unless of course you’re a hybrid and you’re all highway.
In a highway drive my EB has given ranges up to 1000km, but I typically end up getting about 600-700 before filling up. The winter has been much closer to the 600km mark.

Those are incredible numbers. Ever since I traded my 2023 XL EB for a 2025 XLT EB I swear I’ve lost about 100km of range per tank.

That's pretty close to my lifetime average here in Kitchener area.
That's amazing! I was only getting 5.6L/100km in the summer. Now I'm at 6.5L/100km and winter just started! Damn it!

Ya it's a hybrid and mostly city driving with the odd hop-on hop off Highway but the distance is close.

I do have heated seats and steering wheel.
So about 20% loss total. Good number to use as a base line.
Thanks!
Use seat heaters and wheel heater as much as you want. Power use is trivial at best. Like the power of a headlamp.

Use the heater blower fan on the lowest blower setting that works for you.

I find Max temp setting and lower fan speed lowers fuel consumption. I control cabin temperature with fan speed not thermostat setting.

You see, a "medium" setting heats the air fully then brings in some cold air to cool it to your setting. Like running the heat with a window open.

Air conditioner same thing. It chills the air fully then brings in warmer outside air to moderate it. Like running the Ac with the window open.
