I’ve been driving my Maverick in fuel economy mode and it’s getting over 40 mpg.
Last week I drove it in sport mode and it really accelerates fast. But the fuel economy drops to 35 mpg. Not to bad actually for speeds over 70. This is my drive home and it’s all up hill

If you have the correct hills and traffic to benefit from it - wait until you try Slippery mode!

You'll get use to thinking ahead, like where am I going to fall out of electric mode anyway due to acceleration from stop or a hill or speed, so just push it to the limit quick, and then benefit from electric mode keeping it at speed, or going down that hill, ect.
That'll save more fuel than annoying everyone behind you attempting to accelerate so slow to stay in electric mode, then battery is down & engine has to run after you've reached speed anyway.

I avg 40-42 at the pump.
Sport mode is fun on lots of corners where you can get up to a decent speed before the next one.
It actually doesn't have much difference on the highway unless you could coast a lot, since that mode keeps the engine running. But above 62 it was going to anyway.

I think driving style matters quite a lot. The biggest factor IMHO is engine warm-up. If you make a lot of short trips starting with a cold engine, you will get terrible MPG. It seems to me that the heater and AC also affect this. Driving style certainly does too. You have to keep your requested power below 10% to benefit the most from electric drive, and most traffic in the stoplight grand prix accelerates at 20% so you have to choose between economy and pissing people off. 🤪

Pretty much if you drive you'll piss people off. Seems most drivers think they are the only ones who should operate a vehicle on any given road.

I for one hate slippy mode, unless the road is actually slippery. :ROFLMAO: Then again I'm not a MPG chaser, just get good MPG driving like a normal person in normal mode.

Im averaging just over 40mpg. Only modes I use are sport and normal. Also I don't baby it.

I live on the top of a big hill and I assumed that that would be really good with a hybrid when I start off downhill, but like others have said the warmup on the engine is critical, even coasting all the way I still only get mid 30s mpg first thing in the morning. Especially once temps get below ~60 in the morning

50+ MPG (according to dash) through 6700 total miles, not from creeping away after stopped (I gave a heavy foot from stopped), but from pulse/glide in slippery mode. Most of my travel is small rural roads with 45-55 speed limits, or around town.
Slippery mode is a treat to drive in. Feels like it will freewheel forever. I have no idea if it's as easy of gas as eco, but infinitely nicer to drive in.

Slippery is the way. And if you want to freewheel even more, use EV Coach and nudge the Go pedal until you have reduced Regen to the point of almost engaging the Electric mode.

If I want to go fast-fast, I use tow mode. Fast acceleration and no fake shift points that only remind me of why I never want another umpteen gear clunk-o-matic transmission.

I only use tow mode to occasionally remind myself of what the Hybrid is capable of. I prefer to get better mileage with slippery mode.

I've used both modes extensively. In my driving style, and in the short trips I drive the most frequently, slippery mode gives me better mileage than eco does. YMMV
