States opting to forego front license plates often cite cost savings, as producing one plate instead of two saves money
States That Do Not Require Front Plates:
Alabama, Arizona, Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

States That Require Front Plates:
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming
Front plates allow police officers to see the license plate number when approaching a vehicle from the front, facilitating quicker identification for various purposes, including traffic enforcement and investigating potential crimes.
That list you cut and pasted is an old list. Utah does not require a front plate.

Here’s the part number. I added to my order but haven’t installed yet. There are 3 dimples in the bumper for placement which will not cover up the radar.

psmykal,

I have a 2025 Lobo and the dealer included 2 front license plate brackets with attaching hardware. Here are photos of what I have. You are welcome to have one for the price of shipping. I live in Illinois just outside St. Louis, MO.

Yep, you got me, it's an old list.
It has not been updated since January 2025 when Utah law changed. Even though I live in Utah 4 months of the year. I don't stay updated on their laws 🤷‍♂️

Jan. 1, 2025
Per Utah DMV Director Monte Roberts
Utah is dropped its front plate requirement starting on Jan. 1, 2025.

I bought my 2025 Maverick Hybrid Lariat in NC a month ago and have a temporary 60- day NC tag good until early May. I'm driving it to NY in two weeks to have it permanently registered in NY at my vacation home. NY requires front and rear plates. NC requires only a rear plate, so the truck came with no front plate bracket. The NC dealer where I bought the car can't seem to get the correct front bracket from Ford. I'm told the problem might be that the bracket cannot cover/interfere with the front radar sensor for adaptive cruise control.

Anybody else have this problem, and have a part number or a source for the bracket, or other resolution, other than drilling out the front bumper ?
I bought two Mavericks from Long McArthur Ford in Salina, Kansas, where a front plate is not required. Yet, I live in California, where a front plate is required. They provided front license plate brackets at no charge. If the selling dealer were honorable, they would offer to send you a factory front license plate bracket at no charge.

It’s upsetting that there are still states that require a front tag!! There are several that don’t and it hasn’t created any issues, everyone needs to catch up
Oh gosh! States require a front tag? OMG!! Don’t have a sarcasm font.

Our 2023 Lariat was bought off the lot new in November 2023. It did not have a front plate mount installed on the vehicle. At that time Utah only required the front plate if a vehicle was equipped with a front mount from the manufacturer. (That requirement ended at the end of 2024). Because our mount was not pre-installed by the manufacturer, we never needed to mount a front plate. Now anyone can simply remove their front plate and mount if they have one.

In 2016 while driving my AZ registered car in OR where we owned a second home I was pulled over by an OR state trooper for not having a front plate. Upon being told that AZ only issues one plate per vehicle he replied that to drive in OR both plates were required and that I needed to have AZ send me a matching front plate! Needless to say the AZ DMV had no ability or interest in doing that and sent me a letter saying so. I kept that in my glove box thereafter in case I encountered the same or another untrained trooper during the next couple of years before moving full-time to OR and changing to OR registration. There are morons everywhere.

Oregon cannot require something that the licensing state doesn't. This is similar to people from Southern California driving into utah with dark tinted windows that in Utah would be illegal but are legal in their home state. They cannot be cited for having it in their front windows or windsheild. If they permanently moved to Utah, they would have to remove the tinting or replace the glass.

It's amazing, because of qualified immunity. Lie enforcement actors can be ignorant rights and laws.
