I have received a number mailings from Ford encouraging me to consider their Ford Protect extended service plan. My 23 Mav is only 1.5 years old with 14K miles. I am wondering if this makes sense to purchase. I know there are folks out there with a lot of miles on their buggy and was wondering what kind of maintenance issue's are you having outside the basic warranty. Ford is trying to scare me with the cost of repairs.

Yes, it should be pretty inexpensive. Buy it from @Granger Ford as they sell it at a huge discount. Be sure to add the lighting coverage!

As for costs of repair, s*&@ has gotten expensive! Extended warranties have gone from a terrible idea to a much less terrible idea. In the case of the Maverick it was a good idea because it was so inexpensive.

This☝

OP: Granger Ford sells genuine Ford extended warranties, not a 3rd party warranty that may or may not be honored at all dealers. They usually sell them for between $25-$50 over their cost; many many times cheaper than what your local dealer probably sells them for.

And yes, get the warranty that covers lighting. Many LED lights on these trucks do not have replaceable bulbs. If one fails, the entire fixture must be replaced - this includes the headlights, which can be over $1,000 each to replace!

Since these are official Ford warranties, it will be added to your truck's VIN, and visible in the computers at any Ford dealer's service department. You will never be questioned about where you bought the warranty, if you need to use it in the future.

I echo what everyone said. I just bought a 8 year warranty from granger ford.
My truck is 1 year old and 10000K. It is currently at a dealer getting a $3000 repair under warranty.
Buy the warranty! I didn't get the light warranty added on because I have never had trouble with lighting before but maybe that would have been a good idea.

I got the extended warranty as my Maverick was at 38,000 miles....I extended my bumper to bumper to match the 6 year/60,000 mile protection.

If you willing to try, wait till the trucks 36/36000 mile factory warranty nearly reached, then apply for the Ford Protect warranty. Read the fine print carefully. I think the warranty starts when truck new, and therefore lose some time and mileage. In other words, that Protect plan not starts at time you purchased it. Get a 6/60000 miles possibly mean getting the balance of that 6/60,000, minus the orig 3/36 factory bit. But don’t take my word, read fine print, ask lots questions.

Granger Ford maybe an option for some but here in the peoples republic of California there is a state LAW that says you have to buy it from a dealer in California. So glad that we have the best politians that money can buy.

Some using address in other states, can get Protect anywhere USA.

Some pols not so darn smart, but do take advantage of some citizens gullibility.

You cannot buy it and use your state of residence address in some states but your son or whomever living in a different state can use his address maybe with your name even and purchase and have your vin on the warranty.

I went back to the dealer and bought the drivetrain only for about $2.4k. It's well worth it in my opinion. You never know with my hybrid 🤷🏼

@Jdnorton22 I hope you can cancel that warranty because you overpaid significantly!
I bought an 8 year 100k Premium Care ESP with $100 deductible plus first day rental and interior exterior lighting for $1325 from Granger before the price increase in Sept 2024.
Even with the price increase you overpaid.

I have a job-2 25 Lariat AWD on the way to Granger Ford. I expect it will arrive in March (Build date is Feb-3). Some questions regarding the extended warranty: Thinking the 10 year / 0 deductible / 60K warranty. We have an EV and a Miata, so the truck will be mostly for road trips maybe 6000 miles a year or less. Granger has this at $1550 with 0 miles.

1. Is there any good reason to get it when taking delivery or should I wait a few months/years before I get one?

2. Does Ford Protect offer any extensions/add-ons later to extend a warranty once the original purchased limits are reached? - thinking if we somehow blow past the 60K mile limit after 7 years or so, would I have an option to pay a little more and extend it? ANyone seen this?

Thanks

You can get the warranty anytime before 60K or 3 years whatever comes first. If you get it in the first year and before 12K you will save $100.

To further extend it after you bought one I am not sure. Better ask granger.
