I started watching some Ford Lighting videos and I see that the Ford lighting pro, witch is geared more for fleet and businesses is a pretty good deal 39k with a 7k tax credit. I mean it’s definitely in the ball park of the high end Lariat model with that incentive. What do you guys think? Would you consider it?

My current situation does not allow me to take advantage of EV credits. If it did, I wouldn't be getting a Maverick, period.

I think it seems like an exciting vehicle but the attraction of the Maverick to me is the small size.

There’s a pretty huge difference between the two. I think the lighting is pretty sweet but I have no use for it. I miss the original ranger. That’s why I’m getting a Maverick. Plus a 230 mile range is kind of a deal killer. There would be a lot of charging stops on the way to the UP.

I have to have better than a 400 mile range. Electrics are out for me for at least 10 years

Definitely what attracted me was the cost for a truck and the hybrid drivetrain. But full EV would be so awesome.

Yea two different beast for sure . I think the 230 Miles is rated with 1000 pounds of cargo in the bed. So it probably does better then the 230.

I have a Lightning reservation, but I’m not expecting to convert it to an order unless the tax credits are expanded. I’ve calculated that the Pro would be at least 43.5K OTD and I can only take advantage of 6.5K of the current tax credit, so that’s still 37K vs my 25.5K Maverick build. Otherwise I’d be all in.
It’s looking like the range of the Pro standard range could be closer to 300 miles without any cargo which would be more than enough for me.

It should be more clear on the tax credit situation as to whether or not they get expanded by the end of September (not holding my breath) so I’ll keep the Reservation for now. I somewhat prefer the size of the Maverick but if the Lightning Pro was much cheaper I couldn’t pass on it.

Of course, my ultimate dream car would be a full EV Bronco. So worst case the Maverick will tide me over a few years until that’s introduced.

I thought about it, but I decided not to even though I can write off the depreciation and get an EV credit.

The F150 is way more truck than my business needs, it would be an absolute pain to get into the parking space I have and there's no easy way to charge it.

Hard pass.

just curious are you leasing until a full EV product becomes available (aka Bronco)? I'm inbetween leasing for 3 years or just buying, but eventually I want a full EV truck or suv.

I'm definitely buying instead of leasing - ran the numbers and couldn't find a situation where leasing was a better deal for the Maverick.

Big nope from me, as I don't want the hassle of an EV and this is no smaller than my Ram. However, I do love that even that base model gets a digital dash and honker of a infotainment instead of those silly 4" screens they often put on work trucks.
a pretty good deal 39k
I guess that tactic does work on some people... he said its $39999, but your brain remembered the $39K part instead of rounding up $1, lol! I hate when they do that! Just round up the dollar or penny!

GAD! I think you need to talk to your Bean Counter Specialist AKA CPA! He probably can come up with a way it's more cost effective to buy both. Depending on your business buy something that needs emergency power when electricity goes down at your physical location as well a second location so you need a portable backup power supply. Walla NEED not want portable backup! (Maybe even HAVE to HAVE, not want to have the extended range F-150). Then since the lightning has a limited battery life you HAVE to buy the Maverick with a dealer installed HIGH VOLTAGE DC plug in the bed cubby so you can charge your lightning with a jumper cord. (Will the Maverick run at max charge rate in park? And how long would it take?). Might be worth a few hundred just to discuss options with bean counter?

I neither need nor want two trucks. That would be dumb even if the numbers pencil out.

I need to cancel my Lightning reservation because I just bought a Maverick. I was excited about the Lightning, but after pricing it out and weighing the pros and cons of electric I went for the Maverick.

With the Lighting it's $40k for the XL with the smaller battery. XLT bumps it up to $53k with the small battery. Add $10k for the bigger battery and you're at $63k before any options. I'd probably be looking at $70k OTD with only $2500 back from California. Unfortunately I can't take advantage of the federal tax credit.

All this for a truck that won't fit in my garage to charge it and I don't have charging stations at work either. Electric just isn't convenient yet for most people.

The Lightening is an exciting truck for sure. But, you literally cannot compare the Lightening to the Maverick Hybrid. They are totally different vehicles. I got the Mav for its size and hybrid. Personally, I do not like to be tied to an extension cord. If I decided to take a long road trip I really do not want to have to plan it out where I have to stop every 3-4 hours for an extended period of time to recharge. I can take 10 minutes in the gas station and be on my way. I do have friends with all electric EV's and all of them also have a gas-powered vehicle for the times that they take longer trips. For me at least, EV is still a few years away.
