Had situation where doors locked while key was left in ignition and vehicle was setting in driveway at house. Luckily I had second key to open doors. Not sure why, can’t find anything in manual to tell me how to turn off. Any ideas?

There is no setting I know of that would cause the truck to lock itself on its own.

Either there was a glitch, or someone might have bumped the lock somehow.
I'm assuming that since the key was in the ignition, that you don't have Intelligent Access door handles or a keypad on the door sill?

(If you had your phone on you, you could have unlocked it with the Ford Pass app)

There have been reports of this happening. I have an EB and it's happened but I always have the key on me. It's definitely locked on its own twice that I've counted so far. I should note that I have intelligent access and push start though. Very odd. I dismissed it the first time even after seeing the reports here but the second time I was paying attention when it happened.

I'd imagine it's an anti theft device. You can use the keypad or phone app to unlock the doors.

Had it happen to me once on my old EB, and once on my hybrid. Left the truck running with the key in the ignition (XLT, no push button start). Fortunately, I had the keypad on both trucks, since in both cases my phone was plugged in for AA.

Been reports on other threads, that it is easy to activate the lock switch accidently when pulling inside door handle to open door. This was suspected answer to this. Edit: also a good reason to have a keypad.

I do have the keypad and the two times it's happened, I've had the keys on me. I suspect it was due to the battery running low and being open/closed pretty often while I was messing around with things, but I have no clue. Never accidently hit the switch or anything. The second time the truck did it to me I actually had the key on my tonneau cover and heard it lock when I was standing near the tailgate.

I think it's possessed :ROFLMAO:

I can only assume it's something to do with deep sleep?

No idea, but I had the same thing happen to me too this week.

Pulled up to my dry cleaners, jumped out, and left the car running with the keys on the dash. was out of the car for about 3 minutes. Came back out to get in the car and the doors were locked. thankfully, i was able to unlock my door with the keypad.

Have had my car for over a year. Never had that happen before. I'll see if I can recreate it...

question, can you lock the door by touching door handle?

If you press the 7 & 9 simultaneously on the keypad, the doors will lock.

I could see a situation where I lean back on the door and inadvertently do this. Otherwise, it's a great feature when you don't have your keys handy.

Yes. My Lariat does this, but it takes a little effort and isn't something that can happen by grazing it.

Here is an example:

It's an anti-theft function to combat people leaving their cars running while they aren't in them to help prevent them from being stolen. Ford isn't telling anyone because people would whine about it.

If anything, it's the opposite - auto unlock if it thinks you're leaving it running as you get out.

I don't know if that's true or not. For the sake of discussion, I'll assume it is. If that's the case, the only way I was able to get back in the car was with the keypad. If I didn't have that, I would have been SOL.

Since the '24s have removed the keypad, I hope this feature is disabled on that model.

Side Note: I found this video about 'walk away locking', but it specifically says that all keys need to be removed from the vehicle to work. Mine was sitting on my dash...
