Yes. My Lariat does this, but it takes a little effort and isn't something that can happen by grazing it.
thanks
wasn't suggesting that, just wondering if it was possible. wondering if the capacitance sensor that makes it possible may be the issue.

It's not a real feature just a swipe at people that leave their cars running and wonder how come it was stolen. Pet peeve of mine, like going to an ATM in a bad neighborhood at night and then mystified of how you got robbed.

Had situation where doors locked while key was left in ignition and vehicle was setting in driveway at house. Luckily I had second key to open doors. Not sure why, can’t find anything in manual to tell me how to turn off. Any ideas?
That's Ford's way of saying: We suspect you may have failed to make a loan payment on time.

Been reports on other threads, that it is easy to activate the lock switch accidently when pulling inside door handle to open door. This was suspected answer to this. Edit: also a good reason to have a keypad.
Yes, I have definitely brushed the lock button by accident while opening the door to get out.

Has happened to me....Manually pulling the door release when exiting the driver's seat, it's quite easy to...with the same hand....accidentally, then, push the manual lock to lock position... above the door release handle. This will lock the driver's door from the outside, yet only that door. If you don't have the code or a key, you must open the left rear passenger door, climb over to unlock the driver's door or retrieve the keys. If all doors were locked prior to accidentally, manually locking the driver's door, well you're screwed.

It's rather curious indeed. Just tested this out of curiosity.

With my IA fob on the dash above the IPC and the vehicle on (press start button, no foot on the gas, powertrain was still off), doors locked via the button on the inside of the driver door, and the door closed from the outside, it double-chirps and auto unlocks the doors. I wasn't locked out.

With my IA fob still on the dash in the same spot and the vehicle off, doors locked and closed the same way, same result. Not locked out.

Even manually locking the driver door by pushing on the lock mechanism itself led to the double chirp and auto unlock.

With the XL/XLT flip key in the vehicle but not in the ignition, it might let you accidentally bump the lock and close the door with the key inside. With it in the ignition (especially running), it should auto unlock and chirp to let you know you forgot the key.

Seems there's more to the story here that we're not understanding.

we've covered this so many times. The doors don't lock on their own. I have large hands, I wear 2XL gloves. The way the door lock mechanism (The actual lock lever, not the power lock switch) is designed is very very poorly executed. I noticed that while pulling the lever to open the door my large hands were also pushing the lock lever closed. Ever since I have been aware of it, it hasn't happened again. It probably happens way more often than you think but since you don't usually exit the vehicle with it running you don't notice, you just notice it when you need to immediately get back in. Just be more careful of Ford's really terrible design and mindful when exiting to not hit the lock.

The two times it happened to me, I closed the door, then heard the door lock, as if I had pressed the lock button on the key fob (which was still in the ignition). Therefore, I doubt it happened because I pushed the lock lever.

Doors locking by itself has happened to me about 10 times now, always w/ key in ignition, truck off. I leave them in ignition lock while I load up. Fortunately I can still remember 6 digits, & used door key pad. to get it unlocked. Glad to know it is supposed to do this & nothing is amiss.
