how long does a good ceramic application take? i have heard some do it in 2 hours, that seems like a short time based on what others i read say. lots of people in my area pretending they know shit cause bozo killed oil so they think they can detail cars here to pay the bills.
On a new car it's going to be a LOT faster than one with decent mileage. The majority of time is paint correction (cutting and buffing the paint) prior to applying coating.

1) Wash car - 30 minutes
2) Iron remover - 15 minutes
3) Dry car - 15 minutes
3) Clay Bar - 60 minutes
4) Isopropyl alcohol wipe down - 15 minutes
5) Apply Ceramic - 2 hours

So 4 hours 15 minutes start to finish on a new car. Figure an extra 4-8 for paint correction on a used car.

New cars need paint correction too!

I’ve not seen any new(mass produced) cars/trucks that didn’t need it right off the truck

True, but there's a thread on here from a detailer that ceramic coated his maverick. He said the paint was so thin that correction would basically be more harmful than good and the paint was relatively good from the factory.
That doesn’t mean it doesn’t need correction, I’m not saying the paint isn’t good from the factory but it does in fact have texture (orange peel) just like every other new paint job

I’m not saying everyone needs to do it, most people are not bothered by orange peel, but stop using the terms incorrectly

There is merit in coating a non corrected finish, it still adds the whole dirt rejection/hydrophobic properties but being charged $600+ for purely applying a coating is quite high
Paint correction is a time and labor intensive process

I just warn for anyone interested in these services to educate themselves before spending money with an applicator

Two hours is way too short. My detailer had it in his shop all day considering that you have to work in very small quarter sections at a time on each panel of the vehicle. It's very time-consuming which is why I left it for the professional. However, if I had the proper working conditions I would've chanced it and done it myself. But, I don't have that luxury of parking my Maverick in a garage.

My neighbor does nothing but exotic car dealers (Porsche, Jaguar, Corvettes, etc) his comment was exactly the same. There is a limit to how far you go, if it is a daily driver, an minimal paint depth, etc.

Locally a "drive-in while you wait Ceramic Shop" just opened... 4 or 5 guys work on the car and attempt to have the car complete in 1 to 2 hours, depending on car size and level of work requested. Also do window tinting at the same time.

That was the main reason why I would rather have a professional do it. It's too tedious and I didn't want to risk butchering it. Plus, I don't have the proper working conditions as I park my vehicle outside and under an oak tree, as seen in the background of the main photo.
Might want to find a new parking spot. Sap will eat thru the coating rather quick.

Depends how bad the dealer washes it for you lol. I was surprised mine doesn't have swirls and only minor minor scratches that no one could see but me. I was planning on doing paint correction before coating, but turns out I'm just going to coat it.

I did get a lot of crap off with the iron-x though

Yeah that's definitely true I've got about 4500 on mine and I've already got chips on the front from rocks on the road so that's why I'm actually thinking about it now I'm also thinking about getting a bra on it has anybody gotten one of those yet?

looks great.
how long does the coating last before maintenance is required? when is another application required
Typical coatings last between two-four years according to other sources I've read.
