It sounds to me like Ford is starting to get a handle on their supply chain issues. There would be no point in adding a third shift at the Hermosillo plant unless they have the parts to make the vehicles. This is good news for everybody. Well, except for all the speculators who purchased vehicles with the sole intention of re-selling them at a big profit.
I don't think it will hurt the Speculators, even if they make 5K on the truck, that is 5K more than they had. I agree the third shift is good, but they won't fix the demand until 2024 at the earliest.

Well... now that I lost $7000 on my trade from last spring when the used market corrected, and spent a boatload of money renting trucks for 15 months, I broke down and bought a used F150... 48 hours later I get a production notice from Ford on my Maverick. Now it's 3 weeks later and it's almost at the dealer... and I am kinda liking the F150. I had a PHEV that I charged regularly that I traded before it hit 80K miles. The F150 cost me $240 last month in gas ( I live in Taxifornia - OC highest gas in country) BUT... my insurance went down $40 a month and my electric bill went down $95.00 So... I am making a nice warm spot for the Maverick in my garage, It may not make the cut.

Thank you Ford for allowing a year and a half for buyers remorse to kick in. The thought of showing up at a job site with the Maverick now makes me feel like I am delivering cupcakes.

Update: I left out the best part... the out the door price of my Maverick has gone up 3 times since I ordered from 26,152 to 28,545 and now 29,073 So thanks for the $2750 rebate Ford, that makes me only pay $171.00 more for the opportunity to wait 16 months.

FORD INCREASING PRODUCTION OF POPULAR ELECTRIC, GAS, HYBRID VEHICLES IN RESPONSE TO STRONG CUSTOMER DEMAND

MAR 3, 2023 | DEARBORN

  • Ford is boosting production of its popular EVs – Mustang Mach-E®, F-150® LightningTM and E-TransitTM – along with other customer favorites like Bronco® Sport and Maverick®
  • Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant will add a third crew in April to increase production of the best-selling Transit and E-Transit vans
  • In addition to production increases, Ford is studying ways to boost output at Dearborn Truck Plant to meet continued strong demand for the gas and PowerBoostTM hybrid models of the F-150. Ford F-Series is America’s best-selling truck for 46 consecutive years
DEARBORN, Mich., March 3, 2023 – Ford is increasing production at manufacturing plants across North America to meet strong customer demand for vehicles including Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, Bronco Sport and Maverick. The company is also preparing to launch all-new versions of four significant vehicles in 2023: Super Duty®, Ranger®, Mustang® and Escape®.

“We have had a strong start to 2023 sales and we are moving to fast-track quality production,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, Ford Blue. “Increasing production benefits both our customers and our business.”

Through February, Ford is America’s No. 1 selling overall brand as well as the top truck manufacturer and SUV brand. Ford electric vehicle sales are up 68 percent.

In February, Ford’s U.S. market share increased by 1.4 percentage points to 13.3 percent, powered by a 21.9 percent sales increase.

Mustang Mach-E: Ford began increasing production of the Mustang Mach-E this week. Changes at the plant will allow Ford to nearly double its hourly production and bring its annual manufacturing run rate to a targeted 210,000 units by years’ end.

Mustang Mach-E helped propel Ford to No. 2 in U.S. EV sales in 2022, and is bringing new customers to Ford, with more than two-thirds of customers coming from other makes.

Bronco Sport and Maverick: Ford is increasing production for Bronco Sport and Maverick. Production is targeted to increase by more than 80,000 units this year, helping to meet demand in both North and South America. In the U.S., Ford brand SUV sales totaled 777,770, up 4.6% in 2022 versus 2021, led by the Bronco family of vehicles. Maverick was the No. 1 small truck in America in 2022.

F-150 Lightning: In Michigan, production of the F-150 Lightning at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center is on track to triple this year, targeting an annual production run rate of 150,000 by the end of 2023. The F-150 Lightning, the best-selling electric truck in the U.S., had sales of 3,600 through February, in addition to the 15,617 sales recorded in 2022. F-150 Lightning production will resume March 13. Overall, for the F-150 Lightning production increase, Ford is investing $2 billion across three plants in Michigan and adding 3,200 union jobs.

Transit and E-Transit: Also adding an additional crew in April is Kansas City Assembly Plant, which manufactures the Transit and the E-Transit vans, America’s best-selling gas and electric vans in 2022. Ford is targeting an annual production increase of 38,000. Ford is investing $95 million and adding 1,100 union jobs as part of the production increase. Ford is America’s best-selling commercial van maker for 45 straight years.

F-150 and F-150 PowerBoost: Ford is also looking at ways to increase production at the Dearborn Truck Plant of the F-150 gas and hybrid trucks to meet continued strong demand. The F-Series holds the title of America’s best-selling truck for 46 consecutive years.
They're so backed up that 2021 Maverick orders are still unfilled... and now, they're going to add a 3rd shift at the Mexico plant in June? Who's running this sh**show?

80k more Mavericks being built sounds encouraging, but what's the actual likliehood of receiving my build (originally ordered in Oct. 2021 as a 2022) that got transferred to a 2023 build (as soon as the order banks opened Sept. 16th) XLT Velocity Blue with Luxe package? At this point I am shopping other cars because I have no idea when/if this could happen. Already hear grumblings about it being transferred to a 2024 build (but at that point what's the point?)

I really think this depends on the dealer, my friend in NW (Gresham Ford) got his last week, I ordered first in Honolulu and I am still told 2 more months. This is their Lariat, they are not thrilled with the color😂 my first order was Nov 3 ‘21 (theirs a week later) when 23 opened up we both put in the same day.

My ETA on the tracker still hasn't changed but then it still hasn't updates since 2/9. As of Thursday the dealer said it was set to be delivered tomorrow. As far as I know it's still sitting in Tampa so I highly doubt that.
I've know of someone that called the customer service number and was told it hadn't shipped then a few hours later the dealer called and said it had arrived. Maybe yours is passing through Daytona Beach right now heading to spring break.

File this under I will believe it when I see it. Would be in bad taste to make more hybrids after begging people to switch. But I also want my hybrid so hopefully, they actually start making more. Wonder if this model year will run longer with the 3rd shift starting in July in the Maverick and Bronco Sport Factory.
I don't really recall Ford "begging" people to change their orders to EBs. Rather more like just allowing people to do so if they wanted to. I don't think there is anything wrong with them trying to fulfill as many hybrid orders as they can.

LOL, sure Ford . . . this Sunday will mark 500 days since I placed my order, maybe this means I'll be scheduled for production sometime before it rolls over in to a 2024 Maverick?
I know what you mean. 16 months waiting on a Lariat. Changed from a 22 to a 23. Now 2 weeks with no scheduled production. Maybe the new Chevy and Toyota will start production again.

Wow... I don't recall telling anyone what to drive, I was sharing my experience which is what a forum is. I apologize if I offended you, delivering cupcakes can be a rewarding and I am sure you make a good living at it. It was just the first metaphor that came to mind. I was in no way trying to offend anyone's career choice.
