84 were Maverick recalls! The quality issues don’t seem to scare away Ford buyers though.

This source is only through May, but not behind a paywall: https://brclegal.com/us-car-recall-statistics/
Number of recalls is only part of the story. Tesla has recalls impacting the most drivers (2024 data)
There is also severity of recall. Many other manufacturers have park outside advisories because of vehicle fire risk.

I look at it as Ford being ahead in voluntary repairs for their products. Most manufacturers just fix issues as they come in. Hopefully the vehicle is out of warranty by then so the customer gets to pay for it. Issuing a recall means Ford is acknowledging there could be problem in the future and are willing to cover the cost.

And some of those new recall codes are followups to owners not getting prior recalls.
Or the recall software update had an issue and they confirmed not really done on a subset of vehicles.
But not new.

It was some other make that had a recall that seemed to involve the suspension system, and a day or two where the worker didn't put something on, so only a run of a few vehicles effected.
There was a reissue with new recall number for 1 vehicle - the one person that didn't get it fixed yet.

So these sites that look at just recall codes and add them up - eh.
Let's go by number of effected vehicles on each one.
Oh wait - Ford still wins?

As explained in another thread on recalls, Ford is under a consent decree associated with (I think the number is right) a $127 million dollar fine for faulty recalls. The consent decree is that Ford must proactively examine prior flawed recalls and re-recall to do a proper repair. No "nice guy Ford" here at all. They are obeying a court order, under court monitoring.

I consider this to be good news for Ford fans. Nothing incentivizes a company to fix quality more than expensive court orders and billions a year in recall and warranty costs. The CEO knows it is a problem, and is trying to change the company culture. It's just easier said than done. Tens of thousands of people trying to keep their paycheck by avoiding responsibility for anything and not taking any kind of career risk by changing "how we've done it for 100 years".

Thats the way I see. Honda had a recall on steering racks. They left the Accord out of it.
Wife's 2024 is on it's 3rd in under 10k. There are bunch reported on the forums, but no recall yet on the Accord.
Just because there aren't recalls, doesn't mean there aren't problems

Today is Friday evening, Thursday morning I had the backup camera recall done on my 24 ...
Did anyone notice that the picture resolution is lower now and I've all ready had the picture jitter- like freezing for 1/10 of a second... Not that I measured it..But I saw it.

Since i spent 50+ years in electronics and computers-- the big stuff.(Telemetry on the Hubble at NASA, Computed Axial Tomography scanners, for instance). . Lower resolution will reduce CPU time and memory usage.. The tradeoff is not so pretty a picture..

Since I never stream, which uses computer time., I never saw any "freezing" prior to the recall.. I only listen to AM talk radio.. which the maverick has a real radio in it, not computer Voice Over Internet Protocol generated like with streaming.

Anyone share my opinion????

Does anyone really know what the technical fix actually was???
A. Decreased resolution?
B. Decreased frame rate?
C. Decreased color pallet?
D. more than one of the above.
E. Something I didn't even think of this late at night...

Had this done last week. Yes, the picture quality has decreased, no doubt about it. Distant objects are less sharp than before. Haven't noticed any jitters or the horrible lag that it had before. Given that I've had the camera freeze a number of times in the past, I was happy to be getting this update. I suspect they dropped the resolution to make up for the uselessly small RAM configuration of the chipset.
