Anyone experiencing issues using ford app to start vehicle?
I have ver. 6.23.0 on an iPhone. When I preprogram a start eg. Mon-Fri 6am it works. However if I attempt to start randomly via phone it simply won’t. I’m forced to start with key fob, not a big deal but it worked fine on previous versions of the app.
on one occasion I got a “communication error” message.
Is this a wifi issue at my end or an app issue?

You may have been in an area with crappy AT&T service. The truck gets it’s start signals from the App via the cellular modem.

I have a trac phone and found out you have to have data on or wifi for it to work. So, weak signal could be the issue if you have a regular phone plan.

The truck talks thru AT&T for that communication to Ford servers. (forgot who they use in Canada)

Your phone app thru whatever means, Wifi, cell, to Ford servers.

So several break points there.

A programmed start has already had that info sent to Ford - it's out of your App control at that point. Ford server sends command to truck, if truck can be reached. (of course app can disable it, if it's working)

If that's working, ATT must be decent enough at that time for truck.

If your device is saying communications error - your phone may not have good internet access, test some other data app to confirm that works fine right then.
If that works - Ford servers, or your account specifically, may be having issues.

Unless it's those moments your truck has a low battery situation and it's been put into Deep Sleep Mode, disabling the modem so Ford can't talk to it.

But you would have received a notice before modem was disabled, that's it doing that conserve the battery so you can have best chance to start it.

Getting notices like that in Ford app?

Can you check current location when you fail to start remotely?

Thanks for your reply.
Battery is fine, location services work.
I tried remote start at work and various parking lots and it works fine.
I suspect your right regarding cell signal, my driveway seems to be the only place it doesn’t function.

In your drive way, turn the truck around,
Back in.
Make sure your router is of the newer protocols.
If it’s four or five years old or older replace it with a
Tri-band like a current Tp Link ax4400 or newer.
The get~er~done good ol boy way is to
Simply go in Walmart and buy the TpLink with six antennas , the most expensive one they got.

This fixed all my Ford App remote start problems with my 2024. Maybe it will fix yours, Maybe.
I was able to park nose first again.

My 26 Tremor has key fob start. It always works.

Your 22MY doesn't use WiFi except to update the entertainment center.
As imagined - hasn't happened since the rear view camera/console recall update.

The truck ONLY talks to Ford over the modem to AT&T, for the other communication between Ford and truck. App included.
Lariat had different system though.

The 25/26MY's have the systems for remote updates - via wifi your truck connects to.

I hadn't heard confirmed the Ford app communication can travel that same path.
The updates are truck/vin specific, not user account.
The user account is personal though - I thought different systems.
