I found out why there's no readily available fog light kit. Because the Hybrid at least was not meant to have fog lamps, or tow hooks. Took me all afternoon to put in one lamp. And I discovered a surprise. The artificial engine sound speaker is behind the driver's side panel that looks like a place for a fog lamp. Those of you looking at grille mounted lamps, I'll tell ya now.... that's probably the better option. I'm half-way in so gotta finish now. Hopefully no surprises on the passenger side.

I got a metal bracket off Etsy.
I cut the plastic out with a Dremel like tool. Started small then enlarged the hole. BEWARE there is a wire bundle running along the TOP edge of the rectangle "cut outs". Then I smoothed the edges using a file.

BEWARE where the tow hook would be, there is the engine sound speaker about an inch or two behind the plastic. More space to the tire side. But then my lamp would not be centered. Alas, I still cannot get it absolutely centered because the sound speaker is in the way.

Lastly I will need to fabricate some kind of bezel to go around the light. While functional as-is I don't like the open look, and the sound speaker should probably have a layer of protection.

The Etsy brackets work, but you'll need to remove the sound speaker, bolt in the bracket, then reinstall the sound speaker.

The Etsy brackets work, but are a tad too long. They sit "proud" beyond the edge of the truck bumper. Not in love with that. MAY shave them down later. First photo shows bracket a little proud.

Never-mind the crookedness. Everything just finger tight for a test fit.

After "sleeping on it"....

The bracket is a little proud because the bracket is square: parallel to the license plate, as any designer would make it. Make sense.

But the bumper is curved.
Maybe instead of shaving the corner I can just put a washer or two under one of the bracket bolts to make the bracket not parallel. 🤔

P.S. they also make wedge shaped washers.

Edit: P.S.
Three flat washers under ONE bolt on the passenger side makes the braket angle flush with the plastic bumper. I will go back and do the same on Driver's side. Slow progress. No time last week. Always dark when not working!
Passenger bracket not visible with "slanted" install.

There were so many "unknowns" it would have been hard to "just" cutout a hole for the lamp.

Would have required removing the bumper, install the lights, then try to match the hole to the lamps. Then reinstall the bumper. More work with no guarantee of success. I don't have lasers or CAD or CNC.

I'm probably going to make a cardboard template. Can make dozens if iterations to get it just right. Then pick a more suitable final product.

Thanks for taking a risk and blazing a trail for the rest of us. Hope all goes well.

No surprises when cutting out passenger side. Also there is a wire bundle just above the cut-out to be aware of. Arrow: newly installed bracket with 3 washers under one bolt to make it flush with front edge.

Very helpful stuff here. You are the Daniel Boone of fog light installation!. Thanks for pioneering this.

That looks like they would work. GPS man has done a lot of work in figuring out how to mount the lights in those bumper areas. Check out his posts. Thank you!
I "may" be able to finish this long weekend. Stay tuned.

It has not taken much work or time, I just don't have much time.... until the holiday weekend. 😎

I'm going to take your advice and look at a grille mount for the accessory lighting. A member was kind enough to find these for me which will fit very nicely without any cutting away of struts. I'll add a remote fob system for on/off rather than drilling a hole in the firewall and another one in the dash.. Looks like I can get away with it for about $160

Those lamps, neat size and shape. I don't think they are very bright. Are you looking for something functional or just for aesthetics?

Definitely functional. They’re rated at 500 lumens. I’m looking to illuminate anything about 3-6 feet in front and along the sides. The LED headlights are very good for normal distance and better than regular lamps for the sides, but seem to be lacking closer to the front bumper.
