Those jack stand adapters are a great idea.
For the floor jack I just use an old piece of 2x4.
It's soft enough to be able to conform to whatever you are jacking up.
Once the vehicles off the ground, the jack stands should be holding the weight with the floor jack as a backup if you want.

Me too. I have a 2' long 4x4 I put on the saddle of my floor jack to lift one side at a time. Like you say, it's soft enough to conform and the continuous support over its length does not load the edge of the body very much. Based on the specs I've seen (2300 front, 1400 rear, 121" wheelbase) the truck's center of mass should be about 15" forward of the midpoint between the wheels, so that's the sweet spot for your floor jack.
