Harbor freight makes a cheap one:

https://www.harborfreight.com/autom...argo-bars/2-in-1-support-cargo-bar-66172.html

Home depot has one very similar to the one you got. The cheapass one is in fact cheapass, but it's actually easier to use and works almost as well. You can't get it quite as tight as the heavier duty bars but they work well enough to keep stuff from sliding around.

I use the two of them to create a space at the end of the bed that locks in a couple of plastic totes for carrying stuff.

Between those and some ratchet straps you can lock down anything that will fit back there.

thanks all for the info. I got a 2x8 cut down to the sizes listed at 54.25" and 46" and ended up getting it for free as the QR code on the wood didnt work at the register so the girl at the checkout just gave it to me. I used plastic-dip and coated the ends of the wood and ta-da instant cargo dividers. will probably stain them also but for now all good. I do like that Harbor Freight one though.

Hey, Y'all.

If all you are doing is trying to keep a bin or cooler from sliding around, a piece of 2x is a little overkill. Besides, you may have a SO or can't lift it up. I've found a simple chunk of 1.5" PVC pipe works well. Lay it flat or hang'm high. Simple, inexpensive, lightweight, easy to lift stuff over (with tonneau cover on). Easy out of the way when you don't want it.

I really like this solution. I never got around to making the 2x6s or anything and I have a bedrug, but pvc pipe with some rounded cap ends would slide perfectly on the bedrug sides into place I bet.

No need to buy caps. Just round over your cuts with sandpaper. Breaking the edge is all that is really needed.

Thanks for the simple idea. What diameter pipe did you use?

54 1/4 worked perfect for me, even with the spray-in bedliner. I went with 2, 2X6s; while a 2X8 or a 2X10 fits in the slot, I was afraid the rail for my tonneau would interfere with anything taller, as you do have to twist or angle the wood a bit to get it into the slot. I put in one most of the time, add the second one right on top of the first if I have taller loads. Works great, and 2, 2X6s are a lot easier to handle than anything larger.
Which tonneau? No issues putting in or taking off the top 2x6?

There will be variation from vehicle to vehicle. Also depending on what kind of liner you have and how tight you want them to fit.
Very true. My 2022 had a drop in bed liner and I had cut mine to fit that snug. When I traded up to a 2023 with a spray in bed liner, my wooden dividers are now fairly loose and rattle around. I need to add some foam or carpet to the ends to snug them back up. Have not gotten around to it yet.

The Ford hard tri-fold (dealer installed). Open the first third of the tonneau and wiggle the 2X6 a bit: no problem.

Thanks. I'll be doing kiln dried to keep it light and painting them black whenever I get my Maverick.

Is that made with real ducks?

:p

LOL, as opposed to "Duct Tape" ?

😅
Actually... :geek: The tape in question was originally called "duck tape" because the fabric portion of it was a specific weave of cotton called "cotton duck".

Thank you for providing me my daily opportunity to wave my pedantic flag. :ROFLMAO:

If you don't have any spare foam or carpet remnants available, something I've found that works well for similar applications (I haven't tried this application yet) are dollar-store door mats.
