Flat Tow Set Up Instructions

I toad my 22 Maverick all around the country never had a problem. Just bought a 2025 Lariat Hybrid AWD. Does anyone know why you have to wait 15 minutes before starting it after you disconnect. Most of the time you are not in an area that you can let it sit 15 minutes?

I’ve flat towed my 2025 Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid behind my MotorCoach almost 6,000 miles this year - I wait the 15 minutes when I can but most of the time I move it immediately after unhooking it then park it while I set up the campsite usually more than 15 minutes I’ve had zero issues.

That's good to know, Dave. As others have said, there are times and circumstances that sitting still in the toad once it has been disconnected can be very inconvenient for a number of people, including the sitter. Blocking passage while sitting locked in one's vehicle - maybe shouting through closed windows - is bound to create some very uncomfortable situations in campgrounds everywhere. When it's not an imposition on others, it will still be difficult to do as the wife waits for me to get camp set up. Ford needs to find a logical fix for this.

I am doing my research before purchasing a Maverick for flat towing. I have read that the AWD cannot be flat towed. Was that only true of the earlier Mavericks? I am looking at a '26 or '27.

I also read a post saying that the manual says you have to let the vehicle sit for 15 minutes without touching anything, I believe that was when taking it out of tow mode?? Do you know anything about this?
