Yours sounds loud too. It's tough to tell from a video. Some here think mine sounds normal. Perhaps it is for a Maverick, but I assure everyone it is loud and I believe it is not normal. I've never had an AC anywhere near as loud as my Maverick. Do you think yours is loud? Kind of sounds like it.
Mine sounds loud but not as loud as in the past. I had just brought mine out of shade and turned temp to low but had not driven it and HVB was not needing any compressor cooling assist nor would the trans fluid either so in the past when truck was hot more compressor would be needed. Very seldom will AC need to run at max as forward motion will greatly assist btu transfer. Sitting is another matter. The drive motor for the compressor is three phase and can run very fast! (Perhaps if it was five or seven phase it would run quieter?). I do not run mine on max setting longer than necessary. I consider mine normal even if louder than I would like. Just like engine braking takes getting used to. Trust computer to max something out but not exceed it's design parameters. At 32 months I'll decide if I want extended maintenance or not or trade it in. Let me know if yours is diagnosed as terminal as I might want to have mine looked at als.

A new compressor is on order. My fingers are crossed.

My compressor isn't all that loud either from inside the cabin. I can still hear it though. My ears are attuned to the sound. From outside the cabin - hood open or closed...doesn't matter - the compressor is loud. It's embarrassingly loud. It turns people's heads. WTF looks on their faces. It isn't normal.
Maybe it is normal for this make and model, just so different it sounds alien to a bunch of us old timers.

I think you'll agree yours and mine sound alike. With hood closed, I've never found it obtrusive but I rarely have it on a high setting either.

I mean, you're running it at Max with the hood up. Not an even comparison, but most engines sound loud as hell if you start them during cold temps and then pop the hood. It's like someone else said, the AC motor is electric, you wouldn't even hear it that much.

It's loud even with the hood closed.
To be fair, it's loud if you're walking around the front, but that's the case with most cars. Some are louder than others, but most cars when they have the AC and motor running are very loud from the outside. When driving, it sounds normal.

To be fair...
I think I am being fair. My AC compressor is ungodly loud. True, a running AC has, well, volume. That "volume" is the radiator fan pushing air. This isn't the sound from under my hood.

In my video my truck was cold & radiator fan was not running! Just hvb inverter to power AC compressor.

It's not that different than a 12v air compressor for filling your tires.

dB may be greater because one is a 150 watt compressor and one is 3,000 watt.

Good morning. Got up this am truck hybrid sat for three days so assume 12v needs some juice lost my PowerPoint monitor then put truck in accessor and turned AC and lights off. Then put truck in Ready mode left it for 32 minutes and ice had powered off after one cycle. Garage temp was at 91.2°F (still warm because walls R28+Radiant barrier, 10ft ceiling R40, door insulated (R??)). Am in country there is no wind and even crickets are asleep. Video taken with , I believe compressor running to cool DCDC converter which has been charging 12v and dash lights plus little else. Truck was never taken out of park. Barely hear compressor with hood closed. Cabin AC never turned on

So I've never tried opening the hood but I noticed a week or two ago when wife started truck in the garage and sat for a minute fiddling with her phone the AC was stupid loud.

Not sure it would sound as loud as the original video with the hood open, but I would guess yes.

Almost 4k miles, no issues (knock on wood) since we took delivery in April.

Correction:

Last night I measured:

A/C on Max consumes 4500 watts.
That's exactly 6 Horsepower.

Ford dealer installed new AC compressor and the ungodly loud AC is gone. As a reminder here is the before sound followed by the FIXED sound. As it should be.

Gotta say. Some posters said it was normal. I hope they're not mechanics of any nature. I knew it wasn't right.

This is a very known and common issue with the hybrid. My truck just had its AC system replaced to try and remedy it, and it didn't work. Service advisor said they thought that might the case but hoped it would resolve the issue anyway.

My bet is on bad fan profiles programmed causing it to ramp the fans unnecessarily. We see it in the IT space.

Hi, do you have any update on the (potential) software issue? I ordered my 2022 hybrid from the factory. For the first 30,000 miles, it ran beautifully, QUIET, SILENT, and you couldn't tell it was running at all. I took it in for the safety recall/software update and immediately it was obnoxiously LOUD. I really just want my truck back to the factory settings...
