Ahh, but if you're gonna ask them that, you'll have to start asking us "Why buy a truck when you want the size of an SUV? Buy an SUV!!!".
SUV has no bed in the back! :)

Not my cup of tea but I get it. After seeing one in person the current stance seems pretty good. Not messing with mine when it finally comes.

Also looking at the 20s, if you beat me would love some details and pics!
I'm struggling with what wheels i'm going to run. The bolt pattern is not favorable for options. I'm also not sure about clearance as I've only just recently ordered. I'll have to message Mr.Boom 5.0 on here sometime and see what his dims are for different inner out outer clearance etc. His Verde's are 20x9 et38 and he has 275/40r20's on them and there is a good amount (too much for me) poke in the front but the rears look perfect. Rear fender liners look like they'd need to be trimmed when lowered and the fronts look fine with some cable management to move them out of the way at full lock.

Ford Escape HEV -Maverick on order
H&R makes lowering springs for the 4th gen Escape which should work with Mavericks and Broncos Sports(although I think that lowering a Bronco Sport is the wrong direction for that vehicle). They can be purchased through TireRack and shipped to you or the shop you want to have install the springs.

The drop is only 1.4 inches.

This dropped Mav is sick and it looks like more than 1.4 inches.

Someone Lowered a 2022 Ford Maverick Already and It Looks Sick
It's time to embrace slammed mini trucks again.

Judging by the 100,000+ reservations for the new 2022 Ford Maverick, it'd be an understatement to call it well-received in the United States. The truck that's capable of 42 miles per gallon in the city brings the small pickup back into the limelight without sacrificing utility, and with a price tag of just over $20,000, it was only a matter of time before enthusiasts got their hands on one.

That's where Adam Edwards comes in. He's the owner Tedder's Body Shop in Searcy, Arkansas, and it didn't take long for him to become one of the first with a modded Maverick. Within a few days of taking delivery, he found a way to lower it.

Since no company officially makes an aftermarket lowering kit for the Maverick (yet), Edwards had to improvise. He took some measurements of the Maverick strut assembly and went to an auto parts store. After comparing a few options, he left with a pair of struts meant for a sixth-generation Nissan Sentra.

Edwards said that the strut mounted right up after replacing the top mounting cap with the factory Maverick part, and the only modification needed was a small 3/8-inch slotting on the bottom bolt hole.

The rears were a little more complicated. Edwards found a set of rear shocks meant for a number of older Fords ('66 Bronco and late '70s F-Series pickups) that also fit on the Maverick. Then, he cut down the rear springs and replaced the lower spring insulators.

The overall result was a four-inch drop in the front and a six-inch in the rear. In hindsight, Edwards says he wishes he had leveled it out just a bit more by only lowering it five inches in the rear.

This setup is just temporary, though. Edwards' Maverick will be headed to SEMA 2022, complete in mini truck attire. He tells us that he plans to put the truck on air suspension and that his build process will begin sometime in the next week or two. At least he gets to have some fun with a lowered truck on steelies in the interim.

Edwards told The Drive he hopes his project will inspire people to build next-gen mini trucks, and maybe even bring mini truck culture back to its former glory. Before compact pickups stopped being built, the hobby was thriving in all parts of the country. With the introduction of the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz, perhaps we'll see that scene make a comeback sooner than later.

"I believe if the people don’t embrace what we’ve been given here, we might never see a mini truck again," said Edwards. "I’m hoping [that] people adopt these and build them [until] they are as played out as S10s were."
Looks much better than the lifted Mavericks on here. This truck just is too small and curvy to pull off the off-road look. The FX4 with lift still doesn’t have the vibe of the tacoma, wranglers, etc that are body-on-frame.

Lowering it is more fitting, as it is a lower truck to begin with. 👏🏼

While the Escape/Bronco rear might work on AWD. The majority of the Mavericks are FWD (including the OP vehicle) and those are not going to fly. The FWD actually uses the type of the Fiesta ST +2018 rear so that might be a good place to start.

I completely agree! Why reduce the utility of a nice little truck by lowering it? I have never understood this whole idea. Must be something cultural that I am missing. :)
I don't think you're missing anything and I don't believe lowering a vehicle like the Mav is cultural at all. Lowering a Mav isn't in the same (weird) realm as say lowering a Land Cruiser, Jeep or Defender etc. In my mind (and per the specs really lol) the Mav is nothing more than a sedan or hatchback with a bed. Low, unibody, great on-road handling and performance with the (added bonus) ability to toss stuff in a bed and tow a little if ever necessary.

Lowering (if not done to an extreme amount in a static form) will have negligible effect in the utility of these little car-trucks. Hell, you might even gain MORE utility with a robust set of lowering springs/coilovers or (more likely) custom air suspension via extra bed payload and "potentially" more ride-height when required.

At the end of the day modifying vehicles is a personal affair and anyone who customizes their ride (regardless of if I like it) gets a big old thumbs up from me! You do you.

He has AWD doesn't he? Just wondering cause the FWD rear shock looks like its going to be the offset decider for me.

If you have the AWD the 20x8.5 at 40 offset will suit you well. It will have 4mm more clearance from shocks then the 275/40/20 and stick out 8mm less. Plus the 245/45/20 tires are the best value 20" tires which is also the stock diameter.

Yup, that's a big reason why i went AWD with mine for the independent multi-link in the rear! Will be more options for mods and better performance and grip.

Yeah he is AWD as well. Wheels will end up determining my tire size as there aren't too many "nice" (imo) options for this pattern and i'm not going through the trouble ever again of running conversions or spacers lol (those years are past me). I'll likely end up somewhere between a 275/40r20 and a 255/45r20 but we'll see. I come from the world of JDM and German customization/tuning so this will be my first "truck" besides an older Datsun and a few Jeeps. Super excited!

Neither comment really works. A truck has an open bed - regardless of size - an SUV (or car) clearly does not. Perhaps ask why lower a small truck? If you wanted an El Camino or Ranchero you can buy a pretty nice one restored for $20,000!

Although... some cars can have an open bed... "shivers at image"

I agree with your first sentence, neither works as a valid question because they're both irrelevant points; that was my intent.
The truck retains its bed when compared to an SUV. It also retains the vast majority of its functionality as a truck when lowered.

Additionally, I should place a pox on your house for disparaging the mighty Mustang - Ranchero hybrid. It’s no El Camino but it ‘s still pretty cool in its own right.

I don’t get why there is so much trash being talked on lowering a car and adding 20’s. NOT everyone wants a lifted truck or stock truck!!!! If it’s not your cup of tea great, move on, but done leave a comment like “I dont understand why on earth you would ever want to do this and that, your going to mess your suspension up” it’s Car culture, you do you and I do me.
