Hybrid xlt with copilot with drop in bed liner which i bought early this week. With only 200 miles..
Yesterday it was raining and i was cruising on the highway at relatively low speed for 1h..
Reached my destination and stayed there for 2h
On the way back ( thats about 5 min on the highway) i noticed the check engine light was on. Can't tell when the check engine light turned on.. was it before or after i reached destination.. can't tell.
So i took the exit highway about 15 min after i noticed the check engine light.. stopped at the gas station . My tank was at 75% at that time. So while i was there i added some fuel to 92% then i parked.
The check engine light was still on even though i turned the engine off to add some fuel.
So i opened the hood,(engine off)
I stood there look at the engine.. im not a mechanic guy but im not a rookie either.
I noticed the coolant overflow tank (the bigger one was empty). The other smaller coolant overflow tank had some coolant but far from min level.
I couldn't find the catalytic as it was hidden behind tons of stuff and shielded.
Since mine has a hard drop in liner i doubt my fuel tank is pierced.. unless they decide use repaired pierce tanks to maximize the profit.. that would not surprise me.
So i stood there clueless for a solid 10 min looking at any leak or loose parts (visually) but it was too hot to put my hand in there. Didn't see any leak either.
I closed the hood a bit anxious and sad maybe.
Went back inside and turned the engine on.. the check engine light was gone
I took my phone trying to find out what this was all about., i actually checked this forum
Malfunction Indicator Lamp
Regulatory
With no specific code.. so i can't tell what error code number that was.. can't pull the number as i lost my obd reader..
I did not use the vehicle since yesterday.
Tomorrow i might bring it to some random Ford dealer because the one i bought it from is further away.
Hopefully the random ford dealer won't charge me anything.
Im kinda nervous now.
I don't want to bash ford, but on my toyota i never experienced a check engine before 75k miles, on a subaru i don't think i ever got one in the first 5 years, on a jeep i only got 2 and it was my fault.
But check engine after 200 miles? Must be bad random luck or something.
