I removed the Scorpions upon Delivery- Sold the set for $300 online and upgraded to somewhat beefy Toyo/AT3- 245/65s- For some reason the scorpions are actually a pretty expensive option @ tire rack considering they seem pretty wimpy to me and calling them an A/T tire is a huge stretch-

The Pirelli Scorpion's are a good tire and they're quiet. I've had no problems driving on wet and snowy roads with my FX4 XLT. When these wear out, I will consider replacing them with the Scorpions again. I've got 13k+ miles on them so far.

Thanks for the feedback. Helps me put some perspective on the other side.

I am liking the scorpions better than I thought. They are grippy dry or wet and they run quiet. I am at the point where I may consider buying them again.

The only caveat is that I may decide to go with a 3 peak rated tire instead. But the scorpions are mud and snow rated and honestly that is good enough for 99.9% of the driving I do.
The Peaks are good too. It will boil down to price probably for me. So in my opinion the extra $800 is not worth it unless you really need the Winter and Off road tires. I don't like noisy tires either.

Did you replace the wheels or just tires? Assume you mean just the tires. That's what I was seeing the Falken Wildpeaks are under $200 per

I read the Pirelli clears water well. Agree on that. Big reason I want AWD and some truck manners for the flooding.

Yeah, but tires are zero sum. So if I replace day 1, I don't get extra life off new set. So even if I keep the stock for a year or two its better than nothing. Mostly want for ranch roads and such, figure Pirelli will do ok for that then upgrade later.

Thanks all I am leaning towards keeping the order as is and upgrade when the tires wear out.
Which tires is not an easy decision. If you want to replace OEM tires Discount tire can be a good option as some managers will make a good deal particularly if you purchase their "certificates". If you go this route talk to manager before you get your maverick and set up your trade. Tell him you will drive from the dealer straight to his store so the tires will have minimal wear and his trade price for them will be higher. You could also buy the certificates on the oem tires and get the discount road hazard and any wear credit on a replacement set down the road. I am not sure but I believe the free tire rotation every 4-6k miles is part of the purchase price of tires and not part of the certificate. I do not know about the pirelli but the Michelin OEM tires on my hybrid FE lariat are 55k tires and the after market version are 65k warranty. I chose to not buy certificates on my oem Michelin tires and run them to 3-4/32" as barring a road hazard claim the price of certificates was probably a wash. Good luck on your choice.

I've got 11,500 miles on the 225/65r17 Pirelli's with FX4, 4K trailer pkg. They've been good tires and have worn well. They also do well in Houston's rain. But - they just look too small on the Mav. So I'm swapping them out this week at Discount for the 245/65r17 Falken Wildpeak AT Trail. Discount matched Walmart's price of $153/tire. The new tire will fit the wheel well better and with the FX4 it will look better overall. I do expect to lose a little on the mpg side, and am ok with that as I'm getting 27.5 overall. Good luck on your decision!

Are you going to recalibrate speedo with larger tire?

It's off by about 1-1.5 mph off at 70mph with 245s. Kinda not worried about it.

I believe you can only choose between the stock tire sizes through ForScan, but would love to be proven wrong. Mine is set to 235/65R17 but I run 245s. I think on some other models, you can generally set the diameter in mm.

I'm not planning to recalibrate with the 245's. There isn't enough change to worry about it.
