Thanks for the feedback. Helps me put some perspective on the other side.The Pirelli Scorpion's are a good tire and they're quiet. I've had no problems driving on wet and snowy roads with my FX4 XLT. When these wear out, I will consider replacing them with the Scorpions again. I've got 13k+ miles on them so far.
The Peaks are good too. It will boil down to price probably for me. So in my opinion the extra $800 is not worth it unless you really need the Winter and Off road tires. I don't like noisy tires either.
Which tires is not an easy decision. If you want to replace OEM tires Discount tire can be a good option as some managers will make a good deal particularly if you purchase their "certificates". If you go this route talk to manager before you get your maverick and set up your trade. Tell him you will drive from the dealer straight to his store so the tires will have minimal wear and his trade price for them will be higher. You could also buy the certificates on the oem tires and get the discount road hazard and any wear credit on a replacement set down the road. I am not sure but I believe the free tire rotation every 4-6k miles is part of the purchase price of tires and not part of the certificate. I do not know about the pirelli but the Michelin OEM tires on my hybrid FE lariat are 55k tires and the after market version are 65k warranty. I chose to not buy certificates on my oem Michelin tires and run them to 3-4/32" as barring a road hazard claim the price of certificates was probably a wash. Good luck on your choice.
Are you going to recalibrate speedo with larger tire?
It's off by about 1-1.5 mph off at 70mph with 245s. Kinda not worried about it.
I believe you can only choose between the stock tire sizes through ForScan, but would love to be proven wrong. Mine is set to 235/65R17 but I run 245s. I think on some other models, you can generally set the diameter in mm.
