Extremely poor radio reception

Has anybody found a high quality radio antenna that: a) fits b)isnt too long (like the stubby) c) SUBSTANTIALLY increases radio reception (FM in particular)? If so can you post a link or DM me?

Size matters. The wavelength of a station in the middle of the FM band is about 3 meters in length. A quarter-wavelength antenna is roughly 2.5 feet long. One reason why old-school car FM antennas worked quite well.

Physics are at work and there's a limit to how much fn magic electronics can do to fix an antenna that simply isn't big enough to resonate well with the wavelengths trying to be received.

As the popularity of listening to tapes, CDs, and later, streaming stations increased, terrestrial broadcast radio listening declined. Sadly, auto makers began to look at making the radio antenna look better, at the expense of performance. Same with TV, people consider rabbit ears antennas ugly. But they nearly always work the best for indoor TV (and FM) reception, vs "pretty" antennas.

If available, you might try listening to your favorite radio stations by streaming them on your mobile.

Had the stubby but living 50 miles from a major city not the best reception - went back to stock and then had some stations really hard to get - then found this one and it helps me out

The Stubby has terrible reception for HD radio on the Lariat, even in urban areas. Returned it immediately.

I've had the XLT for over a year and never had a problem with the reception and the standard antenna. Then my Audio Control Module died and after getting it replaced, all of the my radio stations are fading in and out all the time. I wonder if the issue is down to what ACM you get...did they use different suppliers? Did they start out with one version, then switch to another and I got an older one as a replacement. It would be nice to listen to a radio station every now and then.

Same issue I've been having I have only had the truck a few weeks now but it's annoying. I was using the Sirius XM but wanted to try the radio out . Didn't have issues other than driving under a bridge or so . I hope they figure it out soon

Back in the day when we installed an antenna at the stereo store we set it to 31 inches for max fm reception. The wire on the existing mav antenna if un wound is probably about that long.

We have two Mavericks. Both have the same pre-set radio stations. The 22 gets excellent reception. I think my 23 used to, but not anymore. I wonder if the smaller antenna on the maverick has a booster, that is going bad. I had an 04 VW that I had to install a new booster to get reception back. I plan to reach out to the dealership to see what they say.

I did improve mine with a longer direct screw on antenna from Amazon. Can't find the link (or know how to post it if I did), but at the time over 18 months ago there were many options. It's about twice the length of the Ford OEM one and a solid twisted rod type with tip and fatter base. Reception much improved; particularly HD reception is more frequent and reliable is where I notice it the most. More channels received also, I think. Came with multiple thread adaptors to fit several applications, did say it would fit the Maverick.
