Hot Pepper Red tricoat was $495. On the cheapest Mav that ever was it would have been about 2% of the total cost. On my Tremor it was 1.26%, hardly a line item to worry about. So no it didn't effect my decision.

Spin that out over 36-60 months and it's really not much if it gets you what you want.

$495 today will get you a dealer installed stick on key pad on a F150 😉

A couple questions about the Maverick and extra cost colors. For 2025 (and previous years), a couple of the exterior colors are extra cost. Azure Grey is an extra $495 and the Ruby Red is $390 more, at least for 2025. Do they really cost that much more than standard paint colors to apply, or are they typically the most sought-after, so they charge more because Ford can? Then, when you place an order, did the additional cost of these specific colors impact your color decision?
I wanted the Alto blue but it really went up then dropped,I found out that the Alto blue required three coats of paint. That would cost more.

$5000 for a painted black rook. That is ridiculous.
Is it just for the hood or is this one of those moments where to get it you also have to have the BAP package and that is the 4000$ extra?

Sometimes the pricing of colors is ridiculous.

  • The Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat is $495 for Maverick and $995 for the Ranger.
  • It is beyond stupid that adding the black painted roof option to the Explorer will set you back an extra $4,895. Ouch!

  • On some GM models paint color is no extra charge as long as it is black!
To quote Henry Ford. 🤭

My rapid red Maverick was 495 dollars extra and came with black painted roof at no added charge.

I've been told that the only standard color on a Maserati is black; all other colors are extra cost.

I wanted Cyber Orange but didn't want to spend extra money on paint. Wife and I each ranked the "free" colors and both had Carbonized grey at the top.

There are 4/5 tints that make a color maybe more in some colors plus the base color and clear coat on top, in my experience RED is the costly, not in this case, don't know why, their using robots to paint, I don't think the robots do anything different for different colors and I doubt there mixing colors there buying in 55gal drums truck loads at time. I think there using all water base paints and clears now, I've been to factory's a few times and that area is always OFF limits. My best guess it cost them about $300/400 for sealer, primer, paint and clear, SOME COLORS DO COST MORE.
Am retired for almost 10 years, they never gave you much info back than. Paint process has always been very secretive.

It's the color, to some extent. But it's the "tri-coat" paints that are the most costly. Instead of just two coats (base/clear) with tri-coat you get base/pearl/clear. Three coats. They always look great too.
