All,
First ford product- picking up Maverick Tremor this afternoon. I plan on getting extended warranty through Flood or Grainger(Thanks to Forum help). I get the mileage calculation- How many years is "ideal"?

I chose 8 years, because I thought perhaps I'd find an AWD Hybrid Maverick by then. I have a 2017 C-Max that I am selling because I got my Maverick. I'm happy to have 23,000 miles and over 2 years left on the transferable warranty. Should definitely add to its resale value. Same with the Maverick if I sell it at 4-5 years...but I plan to keep it a lot longer. In 8 years, maybe we'll have flying cars or no more gasoline...you never know.
I don't drive it a lot, so I went with 36k, 8 years, light and first day rental addons...for $515. To move out to 10 yrs and 48 k was $960, IIRC. It's all a personal guess as to what you think will happen in that 5 to 10 year window.
Edit: I should add that I've already towed it more than I've driven it, and those miles don't go on the odometer.

You can buy the factory extended warranty any time before the bumper to bumper expires. I will wait until my 36000 miles is almost up.

DO you have a price chart? Is it worth paying on 3 years that are already covered?
Estimating with sellers like Granger gives you a full chart that lets you compare pricing at various intervals of months/mileage and deductible amount.

It goes up ~$100 at 12k miles on the vehicle and another ~$100 at 3yr/36k (you can buy until 41mo/41k), not including periodic base price increases. And you're paying for the "3 years already covered" at any point you buy although depending on if you purchase some of the supplementary items like key replacement or rental those can be of use concurrent with the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Don't forget yearly price increase for inflation as well.

Yes. This year's increase was around 10/1/23, I believe. Granger was kind enough to warn us (MTC) in advance of the impending increase...which was one of the reasons I bought from them.

Lombard Ford is Florida licensed so you can quote there, but in general that means they'll charge about Ford's recommended retail price for the ESP instead of discounted to near-cost. So in practice over double Granger's cost.

For instance here's 8 yr $100 deductible on a 2WD Maverick from Lombard. 9yr adds $215 for any mileage up 100k, another $255 for 10yr.

Wow! I'd move out of FL for that difference! My 8 yr 36k PremiumCare with $50 deductible in WY was $515...not $1930! Why are warranty and house/car insurances so high in FL?

8 years/ 36K miles? You are only going to drive it slightly over 4K miles a year?
