Seems I remember someone posting that the Mavericks sold in Mexico ran a different viscosity oil than the US models do. Is that correct ?

No, it is 5W-30 for the Ecoboost and 0W-20 for the hybrid, just like US/Canada.

What is it with people and oil threads? :D

Ford Maverick Engine oil for Mexico vehicles... 1746326874934-5o

Or Europe for hybrid - so perhaps Spain?

In Mexico, the so so down there, it’s the PEMEX brand there.
But it’s a valid, slippery point.

The US EPA requires vehicles to hit a certain mpg so US vehicles get lighter oils than their foreign conterparts.

The Motor Oil Geek on Youtube has avfresh video that deals with oil viscosity (and the GM 6.2 engine failures) that is eye opening.

Yea, the vehicle mfr into thin oil for slicker engine (fiction). From what I read, the GM 6.2 has a cavity area where oil deposits accumulate and that restricts oil flow to crankshaft lube tunnels, and bearings fails.
