22 hybrid w/ 25k miles. The last ~6 months or so, when the engine first starts up in the morning and I am stopped at a red light, the vehicle will feel like it is lurching back and forth, rocking the whole car. I have brought the vehicle to the dealer but they never find any codes and the vehicle only does it in the morning at first start. After that, it will not do it until it has cooled down again.

Has anyone experienced this before? If so, what caused it?

Ohh! I searched for idle lurch and did not get any hits but I should have searched lurching by itself. Thanks and that sucks that it seems to be just what it is.

Mine does this. It started after one of the recalls that adjusted the engine management software. Its only really noticeable in the cold weather, but its frustrating because it make the truck feel like its about to break down.

...You can warm it up faster by putting the trans in "sport" mode...
Or Tow/Haul mode, if you don't like the fake shift points the computer adds to Sport mode.

Have you actually tried tow/haul mode?

It fake shifts too under light load, but not if you "floor it". Just FYI.

I only run in eco mode or slippery for applicable weather conditions.

Remote starting possibly eliminates this problem as well.

Mine lurches when I start it, it says, "you rang?". There are enough older people in here that they should get this reference. I haven't had an issue but wonder if it's only the hybrid that does.

Yes I do.

And IT is only a hybrid thing.

Try a tank of high octane and see if the lurching goes away or is reduced. I haven't noticed it since I started using 91 octane when someone said it helped.

Octane- not related.

As explained elsewhere, it is non-net-zero torque transmitted through the planetary transmission, most pronounced when cold and charging because the engine is working harder to heat things up while using torque to generate power. Some of the torque "leaks" (my term) to the wheels since there is no physical isolation.

"To every action there is reaction."

I mean it is programming / control related, but software can only do so much. It's pretty good but not perfect is what I'm saying.
