Hello Mav Fam, I want to clean the dirt and dust from my 22 XLT Hybrid engine, but I have no Idea what item to cover when k house it down, any help with a pic would be most appreciated.

Thanks
I do this to both my cars annually and there ain't nothing that will touch a small steam cleaner from Harbor Freight, it was around $89 with a coupon, 10 yrs old and still works perfectly. Not much there to break. Cover any electrical parts loosely with plastic bags and the heat from the steam cleaner just melts off oil and grim turning them back to OEM black. It would be hard to damage an engine with just hot steam.

My 200,000 mile Honda ELement engine looks about like it did when I bought it. When finished, it's available for bathroom showers, upholstery, carpet, all things that get dirty. Real dirty stuff I spray with SimpleGreen or 409 first. My pressure washer has paid for itself 3 or 4 times.

Funny thing - they track these recalls (NHTSA) and publish the data. Toyota is middle of the road for reliability and has had major issues with the vehicles in recent years from fuel pumps, bad ECMs, truck frames disintegrating, and air bag issues.

Mazda had only 1 recall in 2023. Toyota had more than a dozen and it impacted millions of their vehicles.

I owned a 2010 Tacoma that had a frame that was rusted out and Tacomas were legit snapping.

Toyota had to put an entire new frame on my truck.

They legit took it a part and put it back together on a new frame.

I'm guessing you're a Scotty Kilmer fan!

I only owned Toyota vehicles from 2008 to 2022 (never a truck), but that generation of trucks had some serious issues with the frame design. Great engines, but the frames, kind of blew me away that they didn't fix the designs until the current generation (22 Tundra/24 Tacoma) trucks. Rust isn't a big issue where I am, so most people just got free frames with just a little surface rust.

That said, I'm going back to buying used older Toyota's without the electrical junk after the Maverick, Ford just totally turned me off with this mess of a vehicle (electrical, non-hybrid stuff). New vehicles today, when the warranty is up, got to toss it to some other sucker.

GM royally screwed up SAAB, but didn't have anything to do with the Toyota frames. The rusty frames were made by Dana.

It was a massive issue that Toyota denied for years. They attempted to spray a coating on my frame but it was already too far gone. Then they offered up to $12k above trade in value if I bought a new Toyota but I elected for the new frame.
