The motor generator is inside the transmission and not visible. That being said, all of the high voltage stuff under the hood you mentioned (orange cables), are reason enough to avoid washing down the engine compartment with any kind of liquid.
The HV components are designed for being exposed to water. Don't forget those cables are going underneath the truck to the battery beneath. So getting splashed with water from rain and puddles is already a consideration. I wouldn't go blasting it with a pressure washer, but hosing stuff off should be fine.

I think you should just call your local Ford service department, they might have tips on how to clean it without damaging anything. I’m sure they have cleaned out some hybrid engine bays before to get them cleaned up for sale

The new rear engine Corvettes have no problem with washing the engine bay Per the C8 Corvette owner’s manual, there are a few things to be careful about when cleaning under the hood of the latest eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette. For starters, owners should avoid using solvents and aggressive cleaners, as they may actually cause harm to underhood components.

Rather, owners should only use water when washing the engine comparment. A pressure washer can be used as well, but with a few caveats. For starters, water pressure must be kept below 2,000 psi, while the water temperature should be below 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

To be fair, Priuses are a much better built and Toyota takes more pride in the durability of their vehicles than any other car maker today. So the engine bay of a Prius is probably better protected. Our Marvericks are low cost made in Mexico. I don’t think the same level of care was put in, just saying.
So why does Toyota still have so many issues? This isn't the Toyota from the 80-90's.

Nice I grew up in the city, season holder for 8 years! Took my kids to two superbowls. Grew up a niners fan went to all the superbowl wins parade. I was at the Dallas niners game in candlestick when the catch happened with Dwight Clark. Moved to east bay wire the colors of the Raiders my child hood team when they battled the Steelers.
I’m jealous! I grew up in Cupertino. I went to a few games at the stick.

All car brands have issues. Computers and electrical parts break faster than pure mechanical parts, so you can compare cars of the 80s and 90s with today’s. The question should be, which brands has less issues and tend to last longer. It’s Toyota hands down and everyone who are into cars knows it.

I'd hate to see the Prius reliability if Toyota didn't care so much....

Almost every Maverick Hybrid has at least one or two recalls, and all the stuff that likely will be recalled (or should be like the CV axles) so it's not like Ford is better. :ROFLMAO: More than one recall every six months of ownership so far.

Everyday there’s been recalls from almost every car dealer from Tesla’s on down. With all the new technology and robots doing some of the assembly and poor quality control it’s unbelievable

Yup, general consensus is that all new vehicles are janky, particularly 2021-2022 production period. Brands that already has issues only got worse.

Ford is the second most recalled brand next to Tesla, but the quote I responded to made it sound like Toyotas are hand crafted and forged from carbon steel in the Tsubame-Sanjo region of Japan....

When their hybrids have very similar issues to Ford.

Thanks for letting me know that "everyone who are into cars knows it." That really invalidates my years of turning wrenches for a living.

For some years for sure. Nothing is perfect.
Didn't say it was. Again, the original comment I replied to was someone who said the Mavericks are cheaply built by cheap labor in Mexico and that Toyotas are the bastion of durability and reliability.

When in fact their hybrids have had major recalls for engines suddenly losing power for model years 2013-2017, 2020-2023.

While the hybrids got a reprieve in 2018 and 2019 from any major recalls - Toyota recalled more than 700,000 vehicles for a faulty fuel pump that causes the engine to shut off at speed.

Toyota is not the bastion of durability and reliability the the person I responded to thinks it is.

Funny thing - they track these recalls (NHTSA) and publish the data. Toyota is middle of the road for reliability and has had major issues with the vehicles in recent years from fuel pumps, bad ECMs, truck frames disintegrating, and air bag issues.

Mazda had only 1 recall in 2023. Toyota had more than a dozen and it impacted millions of their vehicles.

I owned a 2010 Tacoma that had a frame that was rusted out and Tacomas were legit snapping.

Toyota had to put an entire new frame on my truck.

They legit took it a part and put it back together on a new frame.

I'm guessing you're a Scotty Kilmer fan!
