My hybrid engine went completely dead on me. At dealership now for two weeks. Fob controls EVERYTHING so I could not even lock my truck! Tried other fob first, thinking fob was dead. Replaced battery and still dead. Only 8500 miles on Maverick and it’s completely dead. Two electrical recalls on Maverick hybrid. Don’t find yourself stranded like I did. Get your recall repairs. Seems like a design flaw to me if you cannot even secure your vehicle.

I had a similar, strange experience today on my '23 XLT hybrid.

Me and the GF went to leave and go to the store. My Mav was completely dead. I last drove it less than 12 hours prior. I had to jump it. After I got it started, the a/c was acting funky. It would barely blow air and only out the floor vents. The HVAC controls would light up and detect inputs but the blower speed, temp and direction did not change. We drove it a few miles up the road to the ReStore. I kept it in sport mode to try and get as much charge in the 12v battery as possible. When we arrived and shut the truck off, the gauges immediately went blank and the dome light did not turn on. I thought I'd have to jump it again but it started right up. The HVAC acted normally on the drive home.

I just went out and turned the ignition on and my Scangauge read the 12v battery voltage at 12.8v. Then I performed the BMS reset procedure, just to see if that would prevent it from happening again.

This is the second time in 6 months of ownership the battery went flat. The first was in the middle of August when I had COVID and didn't drive it for a week. That I could kinda understand but completely dead after less than 12 hours? I wonder if my OEM battery is going bad.

So after 10 days at a horrible dealership who didn’t even pop the hood, I picked it up and took it to another dealership in town. Like a difference of daylight vs dark. They did all my recalls and diagnosed the dead battery. Turns out I had to have a battery cable replaced and now it’s fine (or so they say; will pick it up Monday). May be worth a look on yours too!

Is that the high voltage (orange) cable that was loose?

Lock the truck from the inside. Or were your windows down too?

Not sure which cable as I pick up the truck on Monday.

As far as locking truck, we could lock front but not back doors. Even Ford tried.

Horrible dealer: Town & Country Ford
Awesome dealer: Wyatt Johnson Ford
Both in Nashville

Hey Ford, maybe you need to do a recall or replacement of fobs if they are designed not to secure the vehicle when they are dead from other electrical problems with your hybrids! Please consider!

There is a manual lock on the door that bypasses the electrical system. It's in the manual, don't have the page memorized sorry.

A competent dealership can make or break ownership experience with a trouble-prone vehicle. Good to see that you found one.

Yes, that is so true. Unfortunate though. I will never set foot in the previous one! I’ve found my new dealership!

Good morning. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealership you are working with? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your Maverick's electrical issues.
