Folks , if i am accidently hitting the lock button upon exiting why are all the doors not locking ??

Because there is a manual lever just above the door handle. It is black, just like the handle pull. It's kind of hard to see. It is not the power button so if you push that lever in with the side of your palm when opening the door it only locks the driver door.

I pull the open lever with my pinkie and push the door open with my elbow

Instead of giving us the new grill, Ford should have redesigned the manual driver's door lock. My old Rangers had a similar problem. If I had the window down, sometimes my arm would depress the manual button and after raising the window and getting out, the driver's door was now locked.
Did it many times. A simple case of don't blame the tool, blame the fool. Some of us never learn.
The Maverick has taken the phenomenon to a higher level.

The ranger door lock was at a higher level. The maverick door lock just has to be sideswiped!

One time I hit Lock on my Mav Ford pass at work and my kid was locked in the bathroom at home for 3 hours.

The accidental locking had plagued me too. I got super irritated and fixed it. Made a simple 2-piece 3D printed solution that works well in preventing accidental pressing of the lock lever and button. Took a bunch of iterations though, like anything worthwhile does.
