Drove longest trip so far. 1,082 miles round trip. Me, myself and I.

All the way from Tx to Fla, mostly on I-10. Truck computer readout displayed 37 mpg, driving 68 mph nominal speed. A good ride.

Hit some heavy rain on return trip, which made me realized the wiper motor was serviced under that wiper motor gasket seal leaking recall. Always in the garage since the fix, and anxiety pumps up! However, it continued to “wipe”, no issue.

Truck just turned 7,044 miles. Have some miles on the MC synthetic lube oil, so might pull sample, send to Blackstone for this lube first analysis. In previous posts, wrote of my concerns of low viscosity of the MC blend lube oil before the switch to full synthetic stuff. This trip experienced 94-96 deg F ambient temps.

That is pretty good gas mileage. I drove mine brand new from Kentucky to Oklahoma and then back home to Houston and averaged about 33.4 MPG. Was going around 70-75. Already at 2200 miles now after a month of ownership.

Nothing like having to take a road trip after a vehicle has been in the shop and you don't know for sure if it was fixed! Me, and myself are fine on road trips, but I gets mouthy... So we have to feed him to keep him in line! LOL

From 48 years ago, pages 6-7 has a good summary of factors influencing fuel economy.
Also interesting: the 1977 Maverick with straight 6 manual estimate of 28 MPG highway. Nearly identical to the 29 highway MPG estimate of 2024 EB AWD.

That is an interesting document. They referenced the highway portion of the test was at 50mph and speed ranging between 0-60mph, but the average was 50mph. I think that is pretty close to what the EPA test cycle has for the average speed also.

Something happened to me on this trip. Needed to do pit stop. Parked in park lane of 3 in front of building. After doing biz, came out, L and R side lanes empty. So did a short abbreviated backup, turned quickly to move out. Hit an island at very end of R side park lane. Truck right wheel did nose dive into it with loud thump. Islsnd nit filled wit dirt, full of water. Lucky with AWD able to back wheel out of that hole.

So now worried if did any damage. Only damage I see is the lower air dam has 4” Rip in plastic. Didn’t see any other damage, the bottom cover ok. Undercarriage looks ok. Drive off, no notice in change of drivability . Might need to get on a rack to inspect closely.

Me and my Wife did a Road Trip from Central Florida to San Antonio, Tx and back which totaled about 2500 miles. Per the Trucks computer we averaged about 32 mpg but my calculated mileage was closer to 30. I’ve only been able to reach 500 miles on a tank one time over the past 3 years. It might be able to do better but we don’t travel light!!

I like looking at the dashboard estimate on long trips, it always gives me the warm fuzzies. The real fuel economy on these trucks, while not as eye popping, is still really good too!

We did 7200 miles last summer through MO, IA, SD, WY, MT, ID, WA, OR, CA, AZ, NM, TX, OK, KS, & back to MO. 2024 average MPG 29.2 calculated 30.4 on the display. Low of 24.6 & a high of 35.1 MPG.
Temps from the 30's to the 120's - no problems at all. We also did a trip to NC and back so TheMav
has almost been to both coasts so far. Close to 25k miles now - still love the little twuck!

Got home a couple days ago from a trip. Took Amtrak Auto Train from Florida to Washington, which elimated about 1000 miles of driving. Drove thru PA on some 2 lane roads. Drove thru West Virginia mountains. Drove back to Florida via 1-77. At times was running in the 80 mph range. Averaged about 27 mpg. 2023 Lariet Eco.
