To all those that have had their cv axle fail, how pronounced is the vibration when accelerating? Unfortunately don't have the explosion of grease as a tell tale sign, only have a very slight vibration accelerating (especially on inclines) and closing in on 60k.

That is a first sign .. or was for me.

I never noticed the "wet spots" until i started comparing pics here and on youtube.

My vibration was not real bad, but noticeable when accelerating up an incline at 35 to 50 miles an hour. After reading about the issue on this site I figured they may be going bad and it was worth the effort to go the dealership. They said they were bad and
repaired. Dropped off on morning and got back the next

This happened to me last year on a used 2022 maverick still under warranty. Very bumpy when accelerating over 50 mph. Took it to dealer who said there was no evidence of leakage so no repair was necessary. Problem persisted. I decided to press the issue. To circumvent further runaround, I took it to a tire center to balance and check alignment on tires. I explained the situation to the mechanic. He came back and said the outer CV joint was fine, but the inner joint was very loose. I asked him to document this on the bill. Took it to another dealer and the repair was made without argument. No problems since.

I have a 2023 Maverick XLT hybrid with 41,600 miles. Vibration issues started on my truck after 36000 miles, with shaking usually starting at about 45 mph, especially when going up any sort of incline. I am scheduled to get it checked out at the dealership in a few days. I'm surprised that with this relatively common and significant a problem, that Ford has not issued a recall. My question is, with this much mileage on my truck, are dealerships fixing these issues without charge? Thanks for any help with responses.

Mine is a 2022, but I believe it is covered under the drive train warranty. They also issued a CSR 25N09 for a one time repair for 10 years or 150,000 miles.

So far, AFAIK, that CSR only covers model year 2022. Hopefully more will be added as time goes by.

Maybe that's my vibration I'm feeling during acceleration. It started after I hit a pothole that knocked my fillings out. I did take it to the Dealership two weeks ago for oil change and tire rotation. That they didn't do the tire rotation.

They won‘t do a recall because it is not a life safety issue. They have issued a customer satisfaction program on them and will replace them free of charge if they go bad.

It appears this covers Model Year 2022 with a build date range of December 1, 2021 through November 23, 2022. My build date is August 3rd 2023. My CV axles are showing no leakage. And I have no vibration or shaking at acceleration at any speed. I drive a hybrid. Odometer right at 29,000 miles.

Thanks Curtis! Most helpful...I have printed this service post and will bring it to the dealership when I go in Monday to get this looked at.

Took our Mavs in today and our CV/Half Axle was replaced. Both of '23, mine had 38k and the wife has 44k.

Thanks. This past week, they replaced both half shafts no charge on my Maverick, even though I had 42K miles. Now my question is: has anyone been told definitively what the problem was? Defective components, a manufacturing issue, some of both? My service rep was no help with an answer. If it's defective components and Ford is not replacing these parts with better quality ones, will this just happen again 35K miles down the road?

At 38k I got it replaced under csp. It was vibrating a year in when I first got the truck but I didn’t notice or aware the seriousness until recently where I felt safety was a concern. Glad I got it fixed
