Seriously? Just scan the horizon and listen for the black helicopters every time you go out. Put a mask on to confuse the telescopic cameras trained on your residence. Mount a ready-carry assault rifle on the side of the console in case they come for you. Oh, and don't forget to go off-grid because they're recording your power and fuel usage as well, and disable the truck lights so that its harder to track at night.
I WANT my usage monitored. It lowers my insurance and makes it easier to claim warranty items. I just wish they were actually doing it.
If you want to "opt in" with clear and open disclosures fine. That is informed consent. That is NOT what they are doing. They are burying your "opt in" in a pile of smoking dung disguised as and end user agreement that covers these companies backsides. There are other businesses in the communications space that are highly regulated by security and privacy laws that limit the use of our data, and customer information. That is not what is happening here. Everyone in the privacy space looking at this with any seriousness realize just how out of control this is. The companies choosing to outsource the vendor used to collect the data appears to be an attempt to shield the OEMs of the liabilities when/if the public backlash finally occurs and/or harm is inflicted that lands people in court. I believe they know they are on very shaky ground here.

Not to be overly cynical, but I've worked in computer technology/security for 25 years, and I can assure you that, unless you've taken some REALLY extreme steps to stay off the grid, you're being tracked on a regular basis by at least 2 or 3 things you carry around or use every day.

If you have a modern vehicle with an always on connection, or have your phone with you, or drive thru any area with automated cameras or past cops with automated plate scanning, then they are collecting data points on your location. Aggregating and collating those data points is a multi-billion dollar a year industry with the data being bought and sold by all manner of companies.

It is very difficult to exist and participate in today's society without this occurring. The real problem is that so much of it happens in the background and the companies behind it have just taken it for granted that the public in general is blissfully unaware of just how much data they have on you. The real issue is that we lack any real data/privacy protections in the US.
Correct Dave, I have been following you since 2001...........

State Farm tech last year said they are still only using their own in-house system (I'm betting they still paid someone else for it actually) for driver details for their cheaper plan - and no desire to pay Ford for the info.

Now the composite info (average speeds, trip distances, drives per week, ect) of all the drivers in different models split out - I'm sure they still charge for it but probably much cheaper - if any want to buy it.

Hopefully this ruling will, prod Ford before being taken to court.

It won't. When you first started the infotainment system a user agreement came up and you had to consent to Ford collecting your data. Now maybe someone at your dealer cleared this before you bought your truck, mine did not.

And you know GM didn't have the same type of agreement?? I believe my Encore did. Including agreement updates.

I don't know about the 24 but there's definitely an option to turn that off in the 25 Maverick. Something along the lines of ".... track and report driving habits like acceleration and braking habits to Ford and it's partners". I definitely did not want some Lexus Nexus situation with my truck and once I found that, I turned it off.
That's more trust in their say-so than I'm willing to accept.

Like "airplane mode" on your phone... it stops YOU from using the radios/antennae, but not the phone from doing so.

Physical switches - like pulling the fuse - are the only way to know for sure. Unless they lied about the fuse...

When I was arguing with my wife over the Ford Sync while driving, she told me to get F’ed. At the next light three sex workers approached my truck! 🤔

Many years ago it was cold, misting, I was alone and when I stopped at light there were two shivering sex workers right there. I was watching the light maybe too closely so they knocked on my fender while talking about Bogo Special.🤗🤗
