Does anyone know what the maximum USB drive the Maverick will accept?

I have a Maverick Hybrid Lariat on order. My local Ford dealer had a Maverick on the lot and I was able to verify that the 16GB USB thumbdrive we use to play tunes in our Edge also works in the Maverick.

What I was not able to check before that Maverick disappeared off the lot was if the Maverick would support a larger USB thumbdrive.

Does anyone know what is the maximum size of the USB thumbdrive the Maverick will accept?

By modern numbers I dont see why 32 gigs wouldnt be held

SYNC appears to be exFAT compatible so capacity should be conceivably limitless.

Someone on the fiesta forums back from 2017 says they are able to use 256GB capacity usb drive on sync 2.

I'd imagine you should be able to use at least that.

I'm using a 128G stick in my 2017 Escape with Sync, I'd be super surprised if 4 years later, it's any smaller than that.

Can anyone verify if usb drives with larger capacities than 64gb work for music files in the Maverick? Thanks.

I can confirm that external drives at least up to 2T work. I used a Seagate external USB that powers up using the USB cable only and the system recognized it. It can also recognize the drives whether they are formatted as NTFS or EXT4 file systems. It also had no problems playing 24 bit flac files with resolution up to 192Khz though I think in the case of anything above 16/44.1 it is resampling it to cd quality for flac files.

As far as thumb drives goes I did plug in a 256G and it was able to recognize that.

As far as how it handles the files on the drives, it creates a temporary filesystem in memory at fs/tmpfs of 128M and caches the files that way instead of reading directly from the usb drive.
