Howdy all. I ordered an XLT Maverick in November. Checked in every few weeks to hear the latest delay, but finally got a call on Friday afternoon that my Truck had arrived. I let them know I was looking forward to coming in. Was emailed on Saturday asking when and told them I planned on coming in Sunday. Wasn't able to make it in due to family in town, but emailed Monday asking for the best time to swing by, and was told "they held it as long as they could" and it was sold. The cynic in me believes they just wanted to get the insane dealer markups that they would not receive from me. I am sure I could have been more communicative over the weekend, but not once did I indicate that I wasn't planning on coming in, and Friday to Monday is less than one business day. I waited 6 months. I'm disgusted.

Please give us all the name and location of that dealer so everyone can avoid them. They need to be put on the shyster list.

Haven't checked on the deposit yet, but to be honest I'm less concerned with the 150 dollars or whatever they required vs the 6 month wait.

This stinks but I don't understand why people take a chance and leave their Maverick sitting at the lot. I guess let this be a lesson to other people, go pick it up as soon as it hits the dealer lot. There's too much temptation out there for dealers to sell with a significant markup. Tell your family you "Gotta go see about a girl"

I think you need to show some paperwork on this purchase. Seems like you should remember your deposit amount. If you are not just trolling the site, my apologies for asking for something more substantial.... Many on this site will give you some good advice, if this is true.

I created the username just to vent on this specific issue. After posting I'd regretted not searching threads to see if it had been discussed before. Appreciate the response.

I don't know if you have cost effective legal recourse other than small claims court, but gorilla social media can be very effective in upping their pain level. A good place to start is this board and letting it be known who the dealer is.
I would start raising hell with Ford. The reality is, it was not their truck, it was a special order, they were in no way on the hook for it. They did not have to pay flooring costs, nor did it count toward their allotment. They're nothing more than a middle man, a facilitator they had no right to sell that truck, it did not belong to them. And, who says they couldn't hold it more than 2 days? Ford? I find that hard to believe. I strongly suspect they screwed you over by choice with intent. Raise Hell. Picket the store, call the TVnews media, call the paper, the BBB, local consumer fraud department City county or state, call your friends and tell them to raise hell, go gorilla. Make it painful. But if nothing, else damn sure get ahold of Ford corporate.

Ive got a copy of a CC authorization form (100 dollars on the dealer letterhead)some sort of enrollment status email forwarded to me. I've also got dozens of emails with the rep since 11/21/21 and call logs. I think the likely answer was stated above: It sucks, but any legal recourse is likely not going to go far/be worth it. Had I followed the forum more closely, I'd have known this was a possibility.

Dang. That sucks. They should have held longer it for you.... But they were probably looking for any excuse that you were no longer interested. And they took your missed appointment as you not wanting the vehicle?

I really don't think you have any recourse.

Good dealerships would never do that. I can understand if you dragged your feet for a month.... but just a few days? That is way too fast to give the dealership the benefit of the doubt. They certainly didn't wait as long as they could.
