Hey everybody! I have had my maverick for almost a year now and have had it to the dealer a couple of time for service and it sucks. The service itself doesn’t suck but the dealer I had my maverick delivered to doesn’t take appointments, so the last couple of times I took it to get a service I waited 3 hours!

I have always been someone who works on my own vehicles but I thought since it was new I had to have it serviced at the dealer, but skittle research says different, so what information do I need to keep if I do my own services so I can keep my factory warranty also I got a lifetime power train warranty from my dealer!

Wait, they do not take service appoints?? No dealer I have ever bought from in 50 years did not take service appoints. In fact most will not even look at your vehicle without an appointment.

Time for a different dealer.

I've had terrible experiences with Ford service and I've lived all over the country. I only take my vehicles in for recalls and warranty repairs and do all of my own service. I keep all of my receipts and keep a service log which is easy to do now with Fordpass, I even upload my receipts to the Fordpass app. I've had a few warranty issues but thankfully nothing major, blown struts, a rusted out exhaust part and a dead power window switch so nothing where service ever came into question thankfully but I would make use of the Fordpass app and log your services in and upload copies of the receipts as well as keep the hard copies in your glove box and I don't think you'll have a problem.

Awesome!! Good to hear that we can do service ourselves and they will still honor the warranty.

OP, if you are worried about the “lifetime” power train warranty offered by your dealer (which is separate for the actual Ford warranty) be sure to check those Terms and Conditions. I wouldn’t be surprised to see language stating that the dealer must perform all service.

And when you say the dealer does not accept appointments, do you mean all service, or maintenance services like oil changes, etc.?

Good luck

.

I agree with this and missed the part where OP said they had a dealer furnished lifetime warranty, some of those lifetime warranties are ridiculous and have crazy requirements and service interval requirements that must be done by the dealer and are just a gimmick.

How do you log outside maintenance in the app?

Well thanks for the quick response everybody, I read my lifetime powertrain warranty paperwork and it does say maintenance has to be preformed by a certified shop so I think my next move is goin to a different ford dealership that will take appointments!!

For things like oil changes a dealer not taking appointments is not uncommon.

Any dealer I have dealt with was happy to make an appointment for oil change or service. Several have also offered oil changes as a driveup service without appointments. But all would let you make an appointment.

And the OP was trying to make a 20k service appointment, not oil change. Doesn't make any sense at all. OP needs to go to a different dealer. There are 3,300 of them, find one that will take care of you and don't put up with BS.

Dealers are getting worse and worse. Wait times for appointments take weeks. Service visits take too long. “Supply chain” BS.

One really needs to have two vehicles. It’s nice to have transportation while the primary vehicle is in service for who knows how long.

This is correct. I recently made an appointment to have at least one of the two recalls on my Maverick taken care of, the trailer brake controller issue. I hate going to dealerships. I rolled in and was told sorry, we can't take care of your recall right now come back another time. Well, wtf did you have me make an appointment for? Total incompetence from Koons Ford in Sterling, VA. The place was completely disorganized, cars everywhere, service advisors huffing and puffing because they had to help a customer and then they gave me the keys to another customer's vehicle when I wanted to leave. If this is what you see, imagine how things are run in the shop where you can't see anything.
