I really have to agree, my experience with agency oil changes or even oil change specialty places has been dismal over the years. A couple of times the drain plug on my vehicle was cross threaded and had to be replaced with a self tapping one. The Hybrid Maverick's splash shield has an obvious flaw, the holes don't line up with either the drain plug or the oil filter. My advice: do it yourself. Take the splash shield off, all 15 T36 torx screws, then change the oil and filter. The splash shield issue is tedious but fairly easy. The oil filter on my 2024 hybrid is actually the same one as my '06 Ranger, very easy and you'll know it was done right because you did it yourself.
My vehicle before my 24 Maverick hybrid was an 06 Ranger which I sold with 226,000 miles on it and it was in very good condition. No one but my friend who's a mechanic and myself ever changed the oil on it and so far on my 24 Maverick only I have changed the oil, yes even the dreaded factory installed oil filter (Harbor Freight locking oil filter wrench-simple).
