DIY bed divider with lockable hinges

What is the purpose of the hinges? I have a standard 2x6 painted matte black in mine. Your's is pretty but not seeing the reason for the hinges?

I install my roof rack on the side rails. My rack is in the way to slide the divider

I wasn't criticizing his work, I was asking the purpose. If the board is bent in the middle, it offers some flexibility but not an increase in space. Does it? Hell, I am not an engineer.

the description says 'for easy removal' but ... it's just as easy to lift and remove an uncut piece, and save $12, imo.

For me, it would be to pinch the shit out of my finger, smash my hand or have it pivot and smack me in the nuts. I'd find a way.

Looking at his cargo rack, maybe the issue was sliding it down from the top, so he found another way?

Correct, I installed my roof rack on the side rails. My rack is in the way too slide out the divider

Forget about any clowns on here that might be giving you a hard time. It's a great idea. I have had this idea running around in my head for some time as well, just with square steel tube. You built what suits your needs, and out of materials that you are comfortable with.

Seriously, this is the innovation? Just get this instead for 16$ if you're the one in a million that has a rack that blocks a 2x6 from being pulled out.

I cut a 2x6 just a little short and added scrub pads to the ends so it would have a little give to make it easy to remove. I also added two handles to make it even easier to lift and remove when need arises.

Cool, I installed my roof rack on the side rails. My rack is in the way to slide up the divider, so I used the hinges
