Hey all, got a Maverick on order and am wondering about disabling the auto start/stop feature.

I know there are $100 connectors and the sort, but have seen on this video on the Ranger that disconnecting a plug will do the same thing.
Video:

Looking under the hood, I see a similar connector in this image connected to the negative terminal closer to the front bumper (attached). Wonder if anyone knows fully what the connector is, and if it disables the auto start/stop without any other downsides.

Thanks all!

Interesting… been using the autostart eliminator for a couple weeks and it works great. So ill keep it. But interesting to see if this works. Also if it doesnt work then a trick i did was go to the autostart eliminator website and put the device on my cart and let it sit over night. The next day i got a email about them noticing it was on my cart and had not bought it yet so they sent me a 15% off. So only paid 85 with free shipping. This trick works for other businesses too just fyi 😉

On some vehicles you can disable the "battery management system" using Forscan which in turn disables auto stop/start. Perhaps this is doing the same thing?

Personally, I would prefer not to disable random subsystems in the hopes of knocking something else out. What does the battery management system do? I have no idea, but I'm sure it's more than just keep the stop/start enabled.

Seems a lot of other posts are saying disabling that clip at your battery also disables your smart battery management system (whatever that does), so I'm a little wary of that. But I also found this video that has you disconnect another clip on the trailer brake light/turn signal module under the dash and all it disables is your trailer lights (just remember to plug it back in if you are towing) but stops your A-A/S from enabling. Going to look for this plug tomorrow!

Edit (replaced video link): Maybe Not

The smart battery management changes the charge voltage by temperature. When its cold it will have a higher voltage then when it is hot, extending battery life. Without plugged in it will just keep a consistent voltage like a traditional charging system. Not to big of a deal if you ask me.

Does the button to turn it off not work? LOL.

Question for those of you that have it, can you turn it off at any point while you are driving or only when you first start it up?

The button works, I just don't have to remember to push another button every time I start the truck. My current vehicle (Focus ST), I have to press a button to enable cruise control every time I start the car so that the "set" button works. Personally, it is worth the $100 to use the auto start/stop eliminator to not push that dang button every time, just wondering if this is a cheaper (free) alternative.

Does it throw an error on the driver side gauge cluster/system? I have seen some compliants.

Yes its definitely worth the 100 for the convenience of not having to push the butting every single time you get in. And I also got it due to the fact that i do see that button breaking with all the pushing and once i get used to pushing that button all the time im sure I would be pressing it too hard out of habit so it would definitely break over time. lol

The auto start/stop is a bit annoying sometimes. But I think anyone can get used to it if they just try to ignore it for a few weeks.
The engine starts very quickly and sitting at a red light hearing complete silence is a luxury in my opinion.
Also it saves fuel, and who doesn't want to save money?
