Did My eco boost Maverick really beat that hot rod Chevelle SS ?

There I was sitting at a red light beside a 1970 type Chevelle SS , it sounded so hot with the engine rumbling with its racing cam ,loud exhaust and wide rear tires . the light turned red and my girlfriend said lets race him . I said ok ( I'm 78 years old) and floorboarded my Maverick . He saw me coming and did the same. To my amazement I passed him and his car was sounding like he was going flat out. At the next light about half a kilometer away he pulled up beside me and gave the thumbs up. We had been going around 160 kph ,about 100 mph . Does this little eco boost truck really have that much punch ??
My girlfriend is 38 years old and keeps me thinking I'm still a kid. My truck is a 2023 Lariat Tremor . Should I sign up for the local races ?
I wonder if I can smoke my tires . The chevelle guy was a length ahead when my girl said lets race him, so I wasn't at a standing start.

I'm in Calgary Canada, that's why the kilometers , I still convert mentally since before 1978 we were on gallons and miles too .

The good old days weren't quite as good as we like to remember. The fast cars of the 60's are only moderately fast by today's standards.

Also, there are a lot of fakes out there. GTOs that are just LeMans pretending to be a GTO and the like.

I own a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland 4 barrel and a 4 speed top loader. I also own a 2024 Maverick 2.0. I get challenged just about every time I take the Mach 1 out. I play with them a little but always lose. On Purpose. It's not worth it to me to blow a gasket or worse. Looks like I'd be a disappointment to your girl friend. Apparently in more ways than one.

Okay, so I can see the Mav vs. Chevelle contest, but racing at 100 on the street will get you a free pair of bracelets and a ride with the Mounties down here south of the Great White North.

Maybe you should try a safe sport like skydiving...

The other obvious challenge in your post is how you keep up with a girlfriend who enjoys street racing and who's 40 years younger than you without breaking something.

Yeah I know I could have got into trouble racing. I live on the outskirts of a city ,no houses or pedestrians. yes my girl is a bad influence .

Yeah , if you look at 0-60 times from the muscle car era you'll find that they were not faster than most any modern mainstream vehicle....
But I sure enjoyed spinning my tires all the way through first gear , and then slamming 2nd when I was a young man .Hooker headers , Cherry Bomb mufflers , Hurst shifter , G-60 rear tires .....

I enjoy driving my 22 2.0t, it's very quick of the lights. I'm 60 and my wife of 33yrs won't drive in it with me because she says I drive to fast.

The alure of speed is only a foot press, or a wrist twist away...

I was exploring the WOT full twist of my VF1000R MC after I got it registered.
On an empty stretch of interstate with a clear view of nothing but miles of pavement I hit 150mph, so I would have been in a bit of trouble too.

When I first saw your above picture, I thought you were wearing a skydiver's jump suit...
Having left an aircraft several times several miles high, I can say that's truly flying...
