My 2022 has had terrible road/wind noise from the mic since day 1. This is a common issue I've seen on here several times. Very hard for people to hear me.

My question is if they have fixed this issue in recent models and perhaps I can swap the mic out with an updated one. It's one of the most annoying things about the truck tbh.

Good morning

We have a 2025 Lariat with an Acoustic Windshield (maybe that helps reduce the background wind noise), and we use our in-truck mic for phone calls and have had no issues or complaints.

It could possibly be an upgraded microphone or the sound reducing windshield that makes the difference in useability....or maybe they can filter out the background somehow...possibly by making the microphone e a bit less sensitive?

I hope you can find a solution, as our truck seems to work well in this area.

Have a good day,

Andy

I have 2022 hybrid lariat with sound reducing windshield. Also when activating cell phone either answer or calling out using the trucks speaker the truck reduces the AC fan speed resulting in clear communication.

I've always assumed it was the stupid idea of positioning the mic up on the A-pillar so close to the windshield and side window. Not near the mirror like most vehicles.

OP - you can try looking up the P/N and see if it has changed...

People I call report that mine is clear and quiet, so I suppose something might have changed between 2022 and 2024. Audio quality during calls usually comes down to how good the noise suppression is though, not so much the location or quality of the microphone.

I've never had anyone say my call was noisy in my 22. In fact, I asked when I first started using it and they said they could hear me fine?

Used the microphone for calls in my 2025 multiple times and it works great.

In our new '26 Lariat, BT cell calls are good using our Samsung phones. The only issue we experienced has nothing to do with sound quality, but, connection quality.

Several times when traveling with both our Mav and '23 Superduty within approx. 100' of each other, our phones (which are paired to both vehicles) will try to connect to both and cause reception quality issues. Have not had this issue before with our Superduty and other of our newer non-Ford vehicles when traveling together in both vehicles.
