Hi, all. Anyone experienced this kind of damage? (in my case, from a parking lot hit-and-run). The bodyshop says I need a whole new bumper, but I'm thinking it could be punched out from the inside and wind up looking close to new. My 2022 Hybrid otherwise still looks brand new. Happy to receive any suggestions/feedback!

Do not use a heat gun on your bumper. I know from experience on the Ford Maverick bumper. I destroyed mine. I only heated the plastic for a few seconds.

Same thing happened on my wife's 1999 Ford Windstar. I was able to pop it out and it was fine. Worth a try :)

I just looked under my mav. Not Much metal in the area. I would take a look under there. The metal looks thin to me.Mounting Brackets I mean. and easy to bend back The ABS plastic brace may be broke. But I doubt it. I think you can do it. My 2 cents if the abs brace is broke go to Harbor freight and buy a Plastic welder. (It will look like a soldering Iron Watch a you tube vid on using it. The Tool has saved me many times.) Weld the plastic back together. You will be fine. Keep us informed

I love welding plastic, very useful for what might seem like impossible fixes sometimes

Someone did something similar to my '14 Honda Accord. They quoted me $600 to take the dent out. I decided, "Screw it, it's paid for!" and opted to keep the dent. Two months later, the dent miraculously popped out on its own. Guess the Florida heat is good for SOMETHING!

I have used a plastic welder on schedule 80 6 inch pvs pipe. Emergency repair on the cooling system for our machines. Worked great.

Put a deflated football behind it. Inflate football. Do in warm weather.

I think you can get it real close to perfect dentwise, however you will probably be left with a discolored area where it is creased. You might be able to cover it with something like "Back to Black" and it may get less noticable over time.

build an enclosure to apply the heat evenly in the area vice directly on the bumper to avoid what ValenciaOrange mentioned. should pop out after minimal effort

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. I guess I have nothing to lose by trying. Plastic welding seems like a good option, and the tool is sure to cost less than my $500 deductible.

Take bumper off and heat from the inside while slowly pushing the dent out. I’ve done it plenty of times on friends bumpers. Easier since there’s no paint on it. Good luck
